Democracy Never

I live right by where this happened. The story is total BS. There was no kidding, no one was bloodied and those arrested were the ones who didn't follow the commands of the officers trying to stop protestors from blocking traffic. Any account to the contrary is a total fabrication. Democracy Now can claim what they want, but their own 'video' won't validate their false accusations. These guys are all kooks and they proved it yesterday! I say kudos to the cops for showing restraint in the face of such obvious attempted media manipulation. As for Ms. Goodman...the cops were instructing everyone to stay back. If she violated that command, which is clearly sounds like she did, then she deserved to be placed under arrest. She isn't above the law simply because she has a press pass.

Democracy now is reaping what they sow by supporting the likes of Joe Biden. They see nothing wrong with supporting individuals who promote a police state and denial of due process as long as men are oppressed via injustice to promote illegal immigration and radical women's advocacy groups. Democracy now needs to oppose the likes of Joe Biden if they oppose what happened to this liberal Amy Goodman. I believe this arrest was kharmically justified. Stop Joe Biden! Stop the Police State! Stop VAWA Based immigration fraud... Arrest more activists that don't see the police state they perpetuate.

I have no sympathy for this publicity hound rep[orter. The only way she gets any one to notice her is by breaking the law so she can try to get publicity for an otherwise uninspiring existence. Good job to the police officers involved! The people of this town support you!

Were the police so frightened that they couldn't take 1.4 seconds to read her pass? I normally praise the police for doing a thankless job, but this sounds more like Storm Troopers in action. This calls for a full investigation. I will not stand for police mindlessly brutalizing the press covering an event! This goes far beyond "doing their job," it is doing a POOR JOB, very publicly.

This is a damn shame, and you people writing on here (not all of you: I see you Madman and Johnny) should be ashamed of yourselves. If it were left up to you armed forces would be trampling through this country unopposed, killing journalists, and attacking people who disagree with them. You people, while maybe not complete fascists, have those same tendencies, and are extremely dangerous. Everything "authorities" do you applaud. That is the same mindset that gave rise to Hitler, Stalin, and Mao: homeland or death types. You people are some of the most ignorant and dangerous people I have ever heard.

So when a reporter gets injured while covering a story in Iraq, does he confront the folks who shot him or blew up his vehicle, or does he realize it is a risk of the job? What a crock. Maybe she should cover stuff like craft shows and fashion tips.

Anarchirst is right and history does support that reasoning, when powerful individuals take control of "what-ever"; nations, governments, school districts etc.. they become politically insulated to due process by manipulating information, using resources at their descretion to futher break the resolve of individuals questioning their decisions, policies, practices or what ever... if the reporter and the producers broke the law, then why didn't they " the republican police" press charges?? they didn't because they didn't break the law;however, the police, ooops ment to say " republican police," know they can arrest and hold for 24 hrs no questions asked, but it needs to be justifiable.. here they use force, picked them up, threw them in jail and let them go to make room for the others.. simple as that... also, if it was really "chaos" as the law enforcement supporters say, where's the proof??? and if it wasn't chaos, why are people being arrested ??? probably because some yellow-bellied cop who would kill anyone just on just the " preception of danger.. " he doesn't even have to see a weapon, if a cop feels scared, SHOOT!!!!please,,,anarchirst has got it right!!

We paid 50 million dollars for security at the convention and all they can do to earn the overtime is arrest Amy Goodman, a reporter? It's not like they found bombs or anything. Since when has talking or filming been a crime?

Since when has talking or filming been a crime? when you get in the police way trying to do their job Let's go back to the video.....ohhhhhh, she disobeys a simple order to move back. Being a so-called "journalist" dosn't give her the right to disobey a simple order. She is not special. Doesn't matter who you are, when told to move back, you move back. It's for her safety and the officers safety. I only wish they would have tazzzzzzzzed her.

It is a shame that these looser come into our great city to cause problems. They have taken away from the constructive message that the other 10,000 to 20,000 people tried to convey. Amy Goodman, when you get out of jail, pack your bags and get the hell out of our city and take your looser anarchist friends with you. Go back to Berkley where you belong.

Suicide bombers -- no worse than traffic cops? A declared war zone = same as DT Saint Paul? Gosh, I was just lucky that my family and I were not machine-gunned when I had a tailight out! Your use of hyperbole to support police actions is most irresponsible -- you are actually equating our police officers with bonafide terrorists in Iraq. Are you certain that is the message you intended to convey? hyperbole (plural hyperboles) extreme exaggeration or overstatement; especially as a literary or rhetorical device. Sorry, but I expect a LOT more from our local police than I EVER would from Iraqi terrorists -- and so do the journalists. Where does YOUR faith lie?

In this case, her merits are irrelevant. Many posters here comment on the appearance of the unruly protesters, as unkempt, unwashed, black hoods or other face coverings, bearing objects to throw. When someone who does NOT fit that description is wearing a Press pass, and accompanied by a cameraman -- why on Earth can the police not tell the difference? Was the expensive videocamera actually a Weapon -- something to swing or to throw? Since the police are NOT stupid (my assertion), why in the world did they attack and arrest some journalists? That WAS a stupid thing to do! I'd love to get an actual officer's take on this (NO WANNABEES!).

The only difference between her and the Violent Radical Democrats she was supporting, is that she said she was "Somebody"...and the police didnt recognize her self importance, and saw her interference as Obstruction, and arrested her.
