I think all those who want LRT and higher taxes should sign that check over to the State of Minnesota. Put your money where your mouth is. I'm sure you generous liberals can come up with the $70 million to get the choo choo on track.

A hundred billion dollars in ‘stimulus’, plus or minus. And not a word from anyone on how to pay for it.
Rebates are a gimmick. Besides, at least 1/3 is going back to the Feds anyway in your next tax return. Anyone with half a brain knows what’s wrong with our economy: government spending has expanded far beyond anything resembling fiscal sanity. Every other entity which operates on the basis of money coming in versus money going out is constrained by one immutable reality: if the latter exceeds the former, sooner or later you go bankrupt. Our political class, however, adheres to completely different “principles:” 1. government NEVER shrinks, it only expands at differing rates; 2. if that rate is less than we think we’re entitled to, we call it a “cut;” 3. we will spend whatever we want, irrespective of the funds actually available; 4. we will make “promises,” aka Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security that will become impossible to keep; 5. we will never go bankrupt because we can print money–even if that money becomes next to worthless. 6. we will never plan for the long term because getting re-elected enshrines short-term thinking. Don’t think for a minute these bums don’t know how to really fix the economy. It’s just that doing something for the good of the country doesn’t remotely compare with doing something good for themselves. |

oh so tedious. If you are going to whine, can't you at least be original? |

Its pandering.(And not even effective pandering.)
Just more Demopublican socialism. |

Most of the people that really need some money will just blow this on liquor, smokes or drugs. Thats why they don't have any now. It's not so much how much you make as it is how you spend what you have. It's like the fools at work asking for a raise because they want a new car instead of telling their employer how they will be more productive. These people will buy something real important like a high def TV that costs even more than their rebate on a credit card of course. Enough said!

Feel free to refute my point or can't you be original. I'm serious. Put your money where your mouth is. I will continue to complain about fools like you who want to use the force of government to take what I earn and redistribute it. |
|
From one who earns too much to get a rebate(socialist logic there) to those whose earn too little to pay taxes and are getting rebates(more socialist logic), I say, enjoy, but don't just get cash and hold it. Deposit the dough in your bank.
And please, people, try to avoid spending your stimulus money on the cheap, poisonous crap the Chinese Communists make that gets sold here at places like CostCo. |

Wrong, wrong, wrong! This ridiculous myth is going around. Check out the IRS' own website for the truth. The truth is, the stimulus payments are not taxable. Nor do they reduce any credit one would receive for tax year 2008. Nor will they increase 2008 taxes in any way. |

Since I don't fit into either of those categories, I think I'll take my "stimulus check" and invest it for when the government comes saying that they want to have it back so they can hand it out again. |

I plan to give most of my check to the Committee to Elect Dave Thune.
Since he has protected me from myself, I feel so much better. I used to smoke in bars, then he took that away. I took upo fitness, then he decided that as bad for me too. I think the most important thing I can do is use Bush's stimulus package to pad his campaign coffers. In case you have not figured it out, Dave Thune is an superl sized Michael Moron looking buffoon that belongs nowhere near the policy making arena. |

This is borrowed Funds and will add to the National Debt that You and your Children will pay back 10 times over. If you live in St Paul or MPLS they took it from you all ready with TAX increases. Don't forget Minnesota Just got Hit with the Largest TAX increase in History thanks to the DFL. spend/spend/spend..
