Gee...it would be nice if Gretz's sisters and others who criticized the police for focusing on Gretz as the killer were around now to eat their words...

Don't you think it's just possible that they did not believe or did not want to believe that their brother or friend killed his wife so they sincerely thought more should be done to find the real killer?
I imagine they have enough to occupy their attention than to worry about whether or not they criticized the police. The police are tough. They can take it. They are used to having to do unpopular and difficult things.
