Freedom, what a pain

Freedom, what a pain in the neck. You give it to one group, pretty soon everybody else is wanting it, too.

The anti-war protesters do not care about freedom of speech. Their goal is to shutdown any voices that don't agree with them - just look at their stated goals of shutting down transportation routes to the convention.

The TV activists are upset that all eyes will not be on them. This behavior is similar to a 4 year old child that needs constant attention. You want free speech, well it looks like you will have to learn to share!!

History is made today. The editorial board and I finally find something we can completely agree upon.

And it's always nice to see a plug for a united Ireland in this newspaper, no matter how subtle.

I'm glad everybody has free speech. If we were living in Russia we wouldn't have it. Here we can say anything we want. It doesn't cost very much too which is a good thing with that weak dollar and all.

I'm just saying.

Free speech, is sacred, as in the right of assembly. Let's just keep it confined to "speech" and "assembling", and not destructive or disruptive activity.

Too many of the "demonstrations" these days are just elaborately choreographed media events.

What are you talking about. Here on campus if we don't agree with those conservatives or republicans we just talk over them, disrupt their speeches and essentially stifle their attempts to teach us anything we don't want to hear. It's all about us and it's all about not letting FREEDOM of SPEECH come to our doors, no way. PS, please keep sending your tax dollars since we don't work and contribute except to be a pain in the butt for you. Hi Mom, don't tell Dad.

We always enjoy the spectacle of the Pioneer Press rediscovering the First Amendment!

Not only that! The Pioneer Press shows its "common touch" with the little people as it refers to the convention as a "shindig"! It makes us want to pop open a few brews and head on down there! Perhaps the convention can be supplemented with a good, oldfashioned tractor-pull! We're all just folks!

Anyone who doesn't laugh this editorial really does have a heart of stone!

I love this article! Freedom is a pain, for some more than others, but it's definitely worth fighting for. Thank you St. Paul for providing a stage where many can voice their opinions.

And anyone who agrees with this fellow's sentiments has a head of air.

I say we erect large mirrors where the protesters can view and watch themselves and thus be satisfied that someone hears and sees them. Kind of like the mirror in the bird cage. Better make it an unbreakable mirror though; you know how angry these people get when people make fun of them.
