This festival is advertised yearly in the Winnipeg Folk Festival. As far as I know, no one has died at the Winnipeg Folk Festival. This is too bad-what's going on? The Winnipeg Folk Fest attracts up to 45,000 people with no deaths (4 nights, 3 days)

I think a lot of the music is folk or alternative. Is that devil's music too? |

I like to have fun as much as anyone, but it is possible to enjoy music or have fun without being completely obliterated. I've been to fests here, & it most likely is a OD.

"""" Don't work there dummy. We fest has more drugs and problems by far, neverakes the press...... Way to diss yor employer, stand up and don't work for them if you don't like it. I suppose another we fester that doesn't understand the culture..... |

Please note that the AP article has bad facts. One death last year was cardiac, one was OD. this year unknown. Only assumed by small minded individuals. some of us know what's up. I wonder if the Sheriff is running moonshine in becker county also! TWO great festivals and a great bunch of people to work for.

It's not the festival that is out of control, people are responsible for their own decisions. It's a very terrible thing that happend, but it shouldn't be blamed on the people who put in a great effort to provide such an amazing experience for so many people. It should be looked at as a lesson to others about being more cautious and looking out for yourself and others. |

More can and could be done at 10K to stop the drugs. Yes, I stand by what I wrote. I am more in the know than you think. The We Fest crowd drinks a lot, but they are not stoned out like 10K. The major problem is the organizers need to make money and they look the other way with the drug use. There wasn't anything you couldn't buy. 10K is no safehaven for drug use. The misuse of drugs there was really something. Come for the music, leave the drugs at home. The two deaths last year were BOTH related to drug overdoses. I had to help pull the guy out of the bathroom who died. Not fun stuff. Yes, his heart gave out due to the drugs he was taking. He had more drugs in his system than they do at the drug store. I had one girl from Montana who came to me because her boy friend had tripped out and hurt himself really bad. I had another tripping on LSD and it was not going too well. I delt with about 30 such drug cases, I walked all the camp grounds, from Lake Sally to Northwoods and found drug use out of control and the cops did NOTHING to stop or control it. This drug use is still not allowed in 10K, but the cops have a special relationship with the organizers to look the other way. Don't tell me this is just recreational drug use use, it is just luck that we didn't have more deaths last year. Attendance at 10K was down big time this year. |

That's because your line-up SUCKED.(with the exception of Phil of course). drug use at music festivals is gonna happen no matter how much you try to enforce it. All that would happen if the cops started really cracking down is that your attendance would drop off even more. |

I attended the 10klf this year and I had a great time. I did notice a lot of drugs around but I also found that these very same drugs are at EVERY festival I attend in the US! I usually travel to many different states every year and attend a variety of festivals. People are going to bring whatever they want no matter where they go to gather. It is an absolute shame that we had to lose a life at such a great event. I wouldn't go as far as blaming it on the festival. It is the people and the choices that are made at this or any other festival that decides how everything is going to go. My question is were there any alcohol related deaths or incidents both during and after the WE festival?? My guess is yes? My point is..... it doesn't matter how, when or where the poor girl died, she died damnit and that sucks!! Let's focus on the matter at hand here and not point blame on what we think the reasons for the cause of it was.

10k is the craziest best experience ever. No one is forcing people to do the drugs it is self decision and if someone is getting so high off drugs they should be responsible and relize the overdose its only the faults of themselves..oh yeah and the music is bluegrass not rocknroll devil music ha its far from that its gods music!
