whats new wrote: just another innocent black person shot, give me a break He wasn't black- maybe American Indian. Time will tell if he was innocent. Kids lose their innocence pretty young in some neighborhoods in Mpls. I lived in S Mpls for a while and you never get used to the sirens and violence.

Just another day in the life of south Mpls living. Chicken sh** gangs. O where are the police? They wouldn't do a thing anyways.

I was blessed to be able to teach Jesse when he was here at South High School. Jesse was always hard worker in class and kind to those around him. I would happily take a class full of kids like Jesse.

No it isn't just another day in the life of South Minneapolis. Come down to this area, it's not a bad area. hbirch wrote: Just another day in the life of south Mpls living. Chicken sh** gangs. O where are the police? They wouldn't do a thing anyways.

No thanks I value my life a little bit. I stop in at St.Paul's East Side where I grew up just to visit my family. And that is more than enough for me.

Why are all these kids "MISTAKENLY SHOT BECAUSE THEY WERE IN THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME" according to the families? 9 times out of 10 that is incorrect, the families just don't want to accept that their family member is bad.

Funny, I have similar feelings whenever I hear about another deadly car accident in suburbs. Life is dangerous no matter where you live, sport. The cause of death just varies.

Lets just say my 6yr old hasn't recovered fully from the evenings events. Not sure what scared him more the rude parking lot [non english speaking dude] or the mega times we were approched for money. He has no plans on ever going again. Cant blame him at all.

Ah those old days going to City Center. I sure don't miss those family downtown trips to ghettoapolis much.

Moved because of the crime and all the section 8 moving in bringing along all their crime with them. I moved because I want my kids to grow up and not have to deal with all the crap the cities have to give. Ive been there done that, they will not have to.

Rough crowd. Sorry to generalize, but the kid looked quite thuggish in the picture shown on the news. It was humbling to learn he was a good kid and good student. But WHY do these kids have to dress like thuggish gang bangers? We have kids that look like this all over our neighborhood and they are not very good or very nice kids. In fact, they talk like gangsters and seem to thrive on that intimidating culture. Perhaps if their parents and families discouraged them from dressing like a thug, they wouldn't be mistaken for one by gang members. I have a 15 year old son who wants to wear those stupid clothes and accessories from time to time. We tell him NO WAY. It's not always well received, but whatever -- we are his parents and don't want him conveying that ridiculous persona for a multitude of reasons. With this boy's entire future ahead of him, and he was apparently a bright, thoughtful person -- I don't understand why his family is okay with that tough guy image. To make my point, I would ask, didn't they have a better, less-thuggish, picture of him?? The picture used on the news will not help their appeal that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. This is a sad story.

I'll let you in on a little secret: here in the city, we don't miss your type much.
