Jerami wrote: <quoted text> How so? Please explain to me why we are in Iraq then? For democracy? lol...if you really think that they you are the one in lala land Jerami you are correct we are in Iraq for the oil reserves it has. I can't argue that. But what I will say is we are there because the citizens of this country demand oil, not the oil companies. As a testiment to our addiction what's the first thing people think we should do when gas prices increase? DRILL FOR MORE!!

No blood for oil is a joke....
You mess with our oil and we will kill you. It runs our whole economy like it or not.

Back when I was in high school gas cost about $.37/gal and a game of 8-ball at the local pool hall was $.15. Yesterday I paid $3.79 for gas and $1.50 to shoot a game of pool. Where is the outrage over price gouging by the billiards industry,(which is almost 100% domestic, by the way)? I think Congress should hold hearings about price manipulation by Big Pool! (BTW: does Bush shoot pool?)

U can blame a lot of this on Don Shelby. he was given a plan to solve some of the gas and traffic problems but he refuses to think, or let it out of the BOX.

You hit it on the head! Explained to my youngest daughter last weekend. She conplained of the high cost of gas and I explained in the 1970s an hours labor would buy 10 gallons of gas. That is also the case in 2008, however. Miles Per Gallon in 1970s was 15 and now MPG is 30 so gas remains very cheap. If you buy a Prius gas becomes very cheap!! ========== Brockage wrote: The survey is a waste of time: people lie. $4.50 isn't nearly high enough to make a dent in our gasoline usage. Think more like $8 or $10 -- check on the cost in "real dollars" and you'll be surprised at how cheap gas still really is.

If you work at a hospital you can only live within 5 miles from work? I don't expect you to understand...but when you are a CONSULTANT...you don't have a job where you are located at the same place all the time...one month I could work in Downtown St. Paul...the next I could work in Bloomington...it varies...therefore I can't choose a home that is going to be close to work...so I choose a home where I would be close to my family and a place I could afford. CONSULTANT = TEMP? If you lived in the city you'd be alot closer to all your temp jobs.

Jerami wrote: <quoted text> Have our driving habits changed in the last 5 years? Not really...so why the drastic increase in price now? Limited supply...more then increased demand. It's not just American driving habits. Oil is a worldwide commodity and the driving habits of Indians and Chinese are what's changing - as they move to the middle class they want cars and they want to eat more than one meal a day. Their demand is only going to grow and the world has about tapped out it's cheap and easy to get oil. It's only going up from here. So we can either get moving on finding other ways to fuel our economy or we are in for a big decline in our standard of living. The economies that will be successful in the future are those that are energy independent. I would hope that we have enough will as a nation to do what needs to be done.

And before you go off about choosing where to live I am a consultant so unless I want to move every 3-6 months I can't better locate myself for my job so get off your high horse on that one. Of course if you lived in the metro you could take the bus to jobs in Bloomington and Saint Paul and so on or you could find a job that didn't involve changing work sites every few months. It's all about choices.

Heres the game they play...they make a huge spike...for an example...Gas prices will be sitting at 3.12 a gallon...then bang all of a sudden it will hit 3.45 out of nowhere...were in outrage...lasts a week...then they will drop it to where they want it...like 3.28...just so we go...phew gas prices went down...and are overjoyed to pay the 3.28 a gallon...they will leave it for a month...maybe two...jumping a cent here droping one there...then they will repeat...it will jump to 3.55...we are outraged again...lasts a few days then goes down to 3.40...we are happy again. ITS BS and our president sits in the Oval Office and wonders why we are in the midst of a recession...HELLLLLLL000000000 0000...maybe if you weren't so busy trying to clean dear old Dads mess you would have noticed...out of the 8 years...what has he delivered to us that he promised? Not much. It must be tough to have to go through life without an education. Where did you hear these explanations of how the world works? I know you vote democrat but that's no excuse.

I couldn't afford to build in the city...and I have student loans up the ying yang...not myself but my wife has quite the student loan debts so 100K isn't as much as it could be... People ripping on consultants obviously don't know the job market very much. If you have the talent I recommend it...you don't have to get involved with the corporate politics and you make great money and you get breaks during the year inbetween contracts...42 weeks a year is considered full time for Consultants...

It is impossible to believe that you are educated by reading your posts. You have no concept of the English language, and your replies have the intellect of a 16 year old. Nice try, though.

Thank you Facsist DFL'ers you have suceeded. In 1996, Al Gore penned a book called "earth in the Balance". On page 79 he states that people won't get out of their cars until gasoline hit's $5.00 per gallon. That's why they have opposed drilling, nuclear, coal and any other form of cheap energy, This was their plan all along. Now that they are successfully on their way to getting us out of our auto's they can set their eye's on our homes. Next week congress will debate Cap and Trade. This bill will pass, it will drive all manufacturing off shore and will cause out utility bills to sky rocket. They want us out of our homes and in soviet style condo's next to a light rail station. Too bad most Americans are too clueless to understand or care what is really happening here.
