President Bush said today that he will not call on Americans to conserve gasoline despite the rising price of oil, saying consumers are "smart enough" to figure out for themselves that they should drive less.

Vote for me. I will tell you what to do, where to go, who to talk to and how to drive. We will take care of you all (unless you make mor than $75,000 per year) I have spoken!

It's not Bush's fault that people are wasteful and gas prices are high. Look at all the people driving suv's who don't need them. I wish gas was $7/gallon. That might make people finally think about conserving... then we could bring our troops home from Iraq ;-)

While I haven't seen the press conference, I actually agree with the notion of allowing the individual consumer to determine how much to drive, assuming that anyone is driving much for recreation now.

If this so called leader had it his way he would drill oil near a day care center.

Is it hard to wake up and live everyday with this mindset? I just don't have the energy.
We are in the greatest nation the world has ever seen.
Pay closer attention. Congress (R and D)is in the way of lower prices. Speculation moves on Congress's determination to stifle any input into the supply side. Even while demand (ever so slowly) decreases.

No that's not it, Mr. B&W. Bush could choose to lead by example. Nobody's asking for new laws.

"It's a little presumptuous on my part to dictate how consumers live their own lives," the president added. This should be the montra of every politician. The Left should pay attention. This is America, not Cuba.

I want to clarify something quickly. I mean U.S. demand decreases. I would hate for folks to think that China (which builds a new Manhattan every 18 months) or India (which delcared that they will not attempt to control demand until they reach U.S. levels) is decreasing demand.

Let's keep in mind that we elected a democratic congress in 2006. Let's also keep in mind that the President doesn't make the laws, congress does. Since 2006, gas prices have soared, but yet everyone wants to blame the president. Why not blame the people who REALLY could change things, but choose not to....the democratic congress!

I know I'm going to get alot of "clueless" judges, but what I posted is the TRUTH!

I guess W expects us all to quit our jobs to cut back on driving so he can turn around and give another tax break to his cronies to outsource our jobs to India and China!
