The government does not run on percentages it runs on dollars and cents. Who pays more taxes, rich or poor? Who consumes more government services, rich or poor?
Maybe you think that poor money is greener and therefore worth more?
The problem is that the top 1% has 90% of the money. If the government needs 15% of the money, it can't get it from the bottom 90% of the people. They just don't have it. They are already taxed heavily to make up for the top 1% getting off with almost no taxes at all. Typically when you make that much, you get corporate welfare. Then they take a little bit of that welfare back to claim you were taxed. In reality, they don't pay any taxes at all.

From a conservative's point of view:

I am not the biggest fan of Bush or Coleman for their centricity, pandering to the hard left on the borders, ethanol, domestic spending, and too many other issues.

I am tired of Republicans reaching across the aisle to work with the socialists in the Democratic Party by moving left if they stayed conservative and the democrats wanted sincere bipartisianship they should abandon the psuedo-communists with in thier party and come to the right to where I BELIEVE most Americans stand. I believe most Americans want the freedom of speech, most Americans want the right to bear arms and be able to protect their families, I believe most American want to be able to fly as high as their wings will take them without worrying about being soaked by the Government in taxes. I believe that most Americans want to be able to drive whatever kind of vehicle they want, even if they are "gas guzzlers" because those "gas guzzlers" are more apt to withstand more force in a colision. I know a majority of Americans don't want hospitals, schools, and many other enterprises to run out of business due to way too many illegal immigrants getting treatment and skipping out of on paying the bills. I'd say over 75% of Americans don't want illegal drugs on the streets of their home town.

If the government can't manage to get a replacement building built at ground zero, if the government can't manage ANY disaster relief effectively, what leads you to believe they can successfully manage health care. If you want a sneak preview of what Universal Health Care look to the VA, look to Canada, look at England, etc.

I challenge all who think they want single payer health care to OBJECTIVELY watch this video.

I am a democrat comitted to Coleman. He is wiser, understands MN better than Franken, and has no more supported the party line than Amy Klobuchar supports the Democrats.
I think we as a state are far better off with majority and minority representation.
Plus, I live in an urban area. I have no representation local, state or federal other than Coleman that will uphold strong family values and support of policies that aim to give people a hand up instead of a hand out.
Reliance on government for everything will not give a person drive and committment to succeed on their own.
I support Coleman with an educated and sound mind.
He used to say that the best housing program was a job, now he provides for government bailout of those that made bad decisions on mortgages. I don't support his position on this matter, but by and large he's the best in the field, and the best we've got going. On another hand, I am disappointed that my other democrat friends don't see what a failure and embarassment Franken would be for the State of Minnesota. I am actually astounded that this is the best my fellow Democrats could come up with. Astounded.
Well said. Although we may be at different ends of the politcal spectrum, I also agree with your statements about Senator Klobachar. To date, she has represented honorably, working on issues that face all Minnesotans. In 4 years, I see myself voting for her. Too bad, I did not take the time to look at her as a potential representative rather than see her as just another Dem.

Is his optimism for expanding the war and for a policy approving torture for prisoners. Maybe his future plans are to attack other countries and to expand the USA's torture policy.

I know. I wonder at what point is it OK for a taxpayer to question the amount they are paying in the eyes of the DFL & several Republicans? If you do, you are screamed at for "Not caring about the children" or "It's your fault the bridge fell down!". Many of us are looking for politicians who will stick up for the taxpayers who supply the revenue for all the true needs & pork projects. If I could just force my employer to increase my salary every time politicians want a tax increase, that would be one thing...Not really, just looking for the government to stay in a budget like my family has to.

I am perfectly willing to judge Coleman on his record. I observe his record as voting for the Bush agenda almost 100%. That makes him complicit in the genocide of Iraq. That makes him complicit in the removal of the constitution. That makes him complicit in the destruction of our economy. That makes him complicit in the elimination of all our freedoms.
Are these really the things we want in a senator?
Taxes and regulation make it more difficult for businesses to grow and expand. Democrats raise taxes and fees to make development more expensive. Business is forced to scale back growth jobs and raise prices. If you thin this is the fault of Norm Coleman your logic is terribl misdirected. The genocide in Iraq was taking place BEFORE the US arrived - were you happier with that human suffering in the world then? I am still waiting to find out which freedoms that I have lost as well. Obviously fee speech still reigns or I would not have had to respond to your liberal tripe.

Again, statistic? 90%, 15% Talk green, cash, moola. Sounds like someone likes to promote class warfare. Who pays the bills?

Better Idea...flat tax. either way I'm screwed. I still pay more than I consume.

BTW, don't you get dizzy talking in circles?

Another rant: Incadesent light bulbs are going to be banned in favor of Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs which contain MERCURY, if they break they require a haz-mat crew to come clean up the mess, and MERCURY is known to cause autism in children, and yet the G.D. treehuggers have made it illegal to use anything else in the name of curbing "greenhouse gasses" which are caused by simply BREATHING amongst other things. The founder of the Weather Channel John Coleman had it right when he said that Global Warming is the greatest scam in the history of man kind.

We already have universal health care in this country; for 45 million people its called the emergency room. No one is denied necessary medical services. The problem is that the taxpayers are paying outrageous amounts (medicaid)so that no one goes without needed medical services. Conservatives should be out front on this issue considering what emergency room health care is costing all of us. Can a conservative come up with a plan that actually reduces the amount paid by the government for health care coverage. It should be possible. Are you listening Norm???

How about voice for following the political winds, or voice for all things GWB or voice for flip flopping. Those seem more appropriate.

Mr. Coleman should be absolutely be optimistic. I am too, I feel that we a truly wining this fight against Al Queda. And, thanks to him and Mr. Bush; we are safer at home. Yes, it costing us a little more money than we thought; but, isn't nice to not live in constant fear of AL QUEDA. We must keep the Republicans in office. McCain will continue this good fight. We must not let our guard down; if we were to ever leave Iraq we would be in absolutely terrible shape.

So what, besides the last year or so, born and raised in St. Louis Park means absolutely nothing to me.
Great Defense. Al kept getting his mail at his New York Apartment because he was so committed to MN? Al fails to pay Workers Comp because he's so committed to his employees.
Get your head out of the sand, I agree with the other guy, Al must still be waiting for the Mayflower Truck too!

Well Pete, I guess the only question I have is what Rachel has to do in order to get your approval. Does this mean giving only Republican spin and not reporting the same side? Does it mean acting like a bunch of **** like CNN, FOX and MSNBC by sensationalizing all the wrongs Democrats have done over the years?

Do all of us all a favor and take Bill O'Reilly's advice by laying off the Kool Aid.
