Hunting is a humane act. It keeps the population to a manageable number and allows the species to survive in optimal conditions. Hunters do not waste their kills, they feed their families with them. If PETA is so concerned with abuse to humans, why don't they focus their time on fighting child abuse? Or funding the local schools so they can provide the adequate materials and staff to better serve our youth. How about funding the nursing homes, who are severely understaffed and underfunded? There are many battles that need to be fought, but hunting is not one of them.

Why is a PETA terrorizing this small town?

Some religions give an animal the same rights and values as people.

Don't worry Cheryl, PETA doesn't care about humans...Hence the "A" which, believe it or not, stands for Animals. I know, this is a big idea that your little brain cannot handle, but think hard!! You can do it!

Anyways, PETA doesn't care about stupid little kids who can VOICE if they are hurt, emotionally or physically. They care about the animals who have no voice. This is what people like you don't understand. I ask you to please read up on something before you comment on it. Education never hurt anyone, so expanding your mind with knowledge wont kill you..(but eating meat will make your life shorter, have you checked your cholesterol lately?) And who knows...maybe you'll sound smart to your friends if you bring this subject up sometime at book club...

Do you know WHY animals are overpopulated? Not because they just started to procreate FASTER, but it's the fact that humans are taking up space in their homeland for (and schools, and nursing homes) every minute of the day. Trust me, we don't have as much forest as we did even 20 years ago. Don't get me wrong, I love the elderly, but children...not sooo much. But PETA is for Animals...contact your government if you think we need better schools or nursing homes. Thanks!

Typical of PETA- they should spend their time on real cruelty issues instead of comparing hunting to human abuse. Why don't they try to end pornography, which really does lead to abuse. Oh yah- these are the people who claim that the act of milking a cow is abuse. Evidently they don't know what happens when you DON'T milk the cow. Do some research into that.

The principal, the teacher, the students and the parents are doing something wrong. They just don't know it "yet". Compassion does not happen over night for some folks. Perhaps a few will realize that all animals feel pain and are not disposable. Then those few can influence the others. If anyone reading is questioning what is being done at this school and in your town, talk to another person. Visit an animal rights website, or maybe just read Bambi. Please make humane choices and all will benefit.

Ps--- The deer overpopulation?? No, human overpopulation. We have tken their homes, that's why we see them now in our neighborhoods. Can't we all get along.

Brad, just as they should do research about how horrible soy milk really is for you. Did you know that if you feed it to your baby, you could be feeding it the equavilent of five birth control pills? It's got something in it that mimics estrogen. I sure want that over cow milk. Not.

BTW...in my area, I hardly ever saw a deer in the wild. Within the past few months, my property has been covered with hundred of deer. Why?

Flooding.

PETA, please boycott mother nature. She's DISPLACING MORE DEER!

if you value animals so much over humans and believe WE are overpopulating THEIR planet. You and your like minded idiots are encouraged to kill yourselves and your families in a mass suicide that is appropriate for cults like PETA. If ya can't live with the guilt, thats YOUR problem!

University of Minnesota researchers did a study on plants. Turns out they documented that plant as well as animals feel pain.

The greener the plant the more pain they felt, like trees feel the least pain but none the less trees feel pain as well. In fact in the case of trees they linked sap running from wounds to pain being felt by the tree.

This was a very sad finding, so much pain and no way around it. A group was formed at the U to fight the unethical treatment of plants, I havn't heard of their activities recentlly but they had a WEB site and everything.

Keep up your great work Susan, the pain will end at some point.

AS a member of PETA's street team, i believe that the school should take the pictures down. If it's a small community, there has to be a reason why PETA got contacted to ask the principal to take the pictures down. It's not like paid employee's of PETA went to the school and saw the pictures. I think if it offends someone, it's going to offend others, so the principal should take the pictures down. If she wants to place the photo's in her office, more power to her, but not on the bulletin board.
Since when do we have a right to not be offended?

Let's be kind! I don't value non-human animals over human animals. I value them the same. And I do not consider it their planet. We share the planet. Have a nice evening.

EXACTLY!! I am tired of this vain attempt at behavior modification and suppression of rights by some overzealous morons trying to impose their vision of some quixotic world where we all live by their values!! You do NOT have the right to live your life without getting offended by somebody else! It is just not possible!

Way to go Mr. Bartelt and Mr. Bailey. I want to thank you both for standing up to PETA and not bowing down to their beliefs. The children are lucky to have educators with a backbone. Again thanks, Ken Russ, North Louisiana .

Last fall deer hunting. My son and I were walking on a trail. I always turn around to see any animals walk across the trail behind me.

Well don't ya know a spiker walked out and stopped, was looking at us. I took a shot and got him in the heart. He ran 30 yards and dropped dead. It was a good shot as I was standing with no rest for the gun and he was over 100 yards away.

Son has family and they love the meat and are still eating it.

I have hunted for over 40 years and get a deer on average every other year.

I have respect for animals but have seen them dying in the spring when there is heavy snow, they suffer a long time. Is starving to death painfull??? Is starving to death a waste???

Who am I to judge!
