''People like to have that extra half-hour in the morning when they can check e-mail and so forth before the pressures come,'' Stoffa said.''So far, we're getting a lot of positives.''
I'd bet you'd get a lot of positives from employees on the public dole who might like getting paid to drink their morning coffee and read mcall online!!!

They make more money than most of us. How could anyone rationalize this idea. I have caregivers who make $8.75 who travel from home to home just to put food on the table for there family. They have to pay for gas it's life. Let's talk to the people in the government to do something about the gas prices. This article disgusted me.

I say every one should be given an extra day off at the employers expense. Then submit the bill to the gas compamies since they have record profits.
Better yet why don't we all ride bikes to work & say "F" the oil companies. If everyone drove a bike to WORK then maybe I could get use to them driving on my roads and impeding the normal motor vehicle flow.
Hey I might actually try driving on the road then instead of the dirt trails that are the greatest exercise, next to running on trails & not running on the road.

How can an hour ..(1/2 in the a.m 1/2 in the p.m)...make up for awhole day? By my count thats only 4 hours?? Just goes to prove that goverment employees never have to work a full 8 hour day anyway.

Can you people read? While the county workers would have a day off, they would still be working their original 40 hour work week, just in 4 days rather than 5.

Many top companies are offering 4 day work weeks, extending the daliy hrs. of the days worked. Nothing wrong with that. Of course if you work for a crappy little company, with a crappy little job, you won't be afforded that luxary.

It works better for large corporate offices that my already have flexible hours or 24-hour coverage but in the county government, most people work with the public or in other jobs that have a set 8 or 9 to 4 or 5 day and there is no need for them an hour earlier and an hour later to make up a 10 hour day. That was the court's point regarding court employees. They need coverage 5 days a week during business hours. There is nothing for those employees to do if the come in at 7 and stay until 6.

Theres nothing wrong w/ working a 4day 10 hr work week,I did it for 4 years at my last job,and the thought of working staggered shifts is a good one as well.My current job has me going in some days from 7-3 and other days doing 11a.m. to 7p.m.,and also working some days from say 10-200 and im still getting my 40 hrs per week. which works great as i dont have to comute thru a lot of traffic on most days
