Hey Marlins Fan, You DON'T SIT left handed, power hitting, relatively young first base men for a well traveled, aging veteran everytime the opponent trots out a left handed starter---UNLESS the left handed, power hitting, relatively young first baseman has already SUFFICIENTLY demonstrated an inability to produce.

See you are one of those supporter sniffing FANaticS who believe that ALL is good as your Benito Santiago Bobble Head Doll stares at your 1995 Marlins Team Poster in your teal covered master bedroom.

There are other people who respect the over achievement of some teams and recognize the NEAR impossibility of what they have done for 98 games YET actually want them to CLOSE the deal. And even a Hialeah City Councilman would recognize certain things about this Marlins team and call for changes. Changes like:

(1) Demoting slugs like Tankersley and Kensing when it was obvious they were LOST

(2)Realizing that you can't carry a catcher who couldn't hit, catch or throw--Bye Bye Rabelo

New things I see occuring as a result of watching games without grasping a Conine jersey to my chest-----Jacobs has now been seen as a free swinging, all or nothing, positionless, injury prone, strike zone ignoring bust who will never achieve what was first expected--Either because of a miscalculation or just a refusal to adapt. Another OBVIOUS thing--Willingham is a SHELL of his former self. Something is still going on with his back. When they let The Jaker bat AFTER Manuel goes to a lefthander--Well, Willingham Is Hurt.Want another!!!! Gregg will eventually end up costing the Marlins big time. a 4!!! Run Lead CAN'T be in jeopardy going to top of the 9th. Things they have seen, that they are helpless to fix as of now--the corner outfielders may be the WORST in baseball as to routes to the ball and just plain understanding of the game, AND YOU CAN'T have a guy who needs a relay man to get it to the relay man ever playing out there. If you want Gonzo in there, get that Mid Range Prospect--Not me talking, but every MAJOR newspaper website in America--for The Jaker and let's move on. We have All Star First basemen at Triple A, Double A and Single A--They will be arriving, and even tradeable for SOMETHING GOOD because Cantu's best position is actually 1B, and he loves it there. Dominguez will be here in 2 years or even Coughlin(a hit machine) can move there from 2nd.

MANY SITES in this computer era where you can go to and see a breakdown of a guy's skills--or lack of same. Go find one on The Jaker--ESPN is the easiest, but Heaven FORBID it may cost $60.00 a year---or put extra effort into it and find out what he hits with different counts, in late game pressure situations, depending where the ball is thrown. You will find it is definitely not only me who believes the Jaker is going to be one of those guys you look back at and wonder "Whatever happened to that guy who broke in with power surge with the Mets, got traded to the Marlins and then disappeared??"

Do the Mets, Phillies, Braves, Cubs, Brewers, Cardinals, Twins, Yankees, Red Sox Dodgers sit their first basemen depending on lefty or righty??

Lou - all well and good but, seeing as how Andrew Miller has been rushed into action and misused this year, perhaps to his long-term disadvantage, I'm fine with leaving those future stars down on the second and third rungs for another year or so to get them some more polish and experience. Miller reminds me a bit of those barely-trained adolescent troops whose helmet rims were down around their noses that the Germans threw at the Soviet tanks during the siege of Berlin - except that those kids usually showed more resolve in dealing with an oncoming T-32 than Miller's face reflects when he's got men on base and no outs. The team should be looking to shore itself up with current big league players through trades or cash deals (muahahahahah) until the gems can be mined. But I fear that the ownership will be ver-r-ry circumspect about making any moves that would add to the payroll until they see which way the Braman wind is blowing.

Where are all the people that were crying that we need a center fielder a few weeks ago? Anyone think that Maybin is better than Cody now?
Let's clarify things here: Cody WAS hitting under 200 with no power, and so we needed a center fielder. He IMPROVED, so it is not a need any longer. Plus, if Hermida is shipped after this year, then we will STILL need another starter....
