bottom line... Black man...Running against white man.. Leaves us with no hope...Just for four more years of lies and bulls---!

McCain has been portrayed as "Bush on Steroids" and
"4 more years of the same"....

It is a shame that this newspaper continues to carry editorials that only reflect the papers ownership, and not the paper's readership. The paper has no real editorial staff to speak of - at least not one that has managed to be objective and/or understand the big picture. Perhaps they should try running editorials out of the Lowell Sun instead - at least they deal with local and state issues.

I'm hoping this racist country will be able to elect a highly qualified black man, but I don't know. Lets all pray about it. Otherwise, we'll have more unemployment, high gas prices, and thousands more will be killed in a needless war. Help us all if we don't elect Obama.

Every time I hear the word racist I cringe. Not because I am one but because there is nothing anyone can say in defense of this allegation. Usually it isn't true when that card is played, but the average Joe can't stand up to that because the media, in their infinite wisdom, has poked and prodded the American public with it. It's like the overweight black woman in the grocery store who is yelling like an umpire about food prices. The manager comes over and giver her what she wants just to shut her up. No decorum, black children are NOT taught for the most part, how to assimilate in to society and act properly. Why else would you hear music blaring out of cars at 120db. and if you say something they pull a gun on you.

Oh Obama will win and all the projects will get a new coat of paint. The gas price will still increase, there will still be problems in the middle east and our dollar won't gain against the Euro, but black America will have what they want at the expense of everyone, themselves included. We are probably in the last days of our democracy.

I will agree that Obama may get some votes just because he's black. Its a shame that people will vote that way. However, you're proof that McCain may gain as many votes just because he's NOT black. It seems to be working both ways here.
I'm not a supporter of Obama, but I don't think his race will have anything to do with whether he fails or succeeds.
P.S.... we're a republic.

I hope all those red states make a better choice when they vote for president in November 2008 than they did in 2000 and 2004.

However, at this point, I think it is too complicated to just say that Obama will win or lose because he is black or part black.

First, Obama will most likely lose some of those red states in the Middle of the country. Some will not be shocked by that fact.

Second, most Hispanics live in red states, so if they vote against Obama their vote against Obama should not really matter that much any way.

Third, while California is a blue state with a large gay population, opponents of same-sex-marriage will place a bill on the November ballot.

For those not a resident of California, California’s Supreme Court just overturned a voter-approved ban on gay marriage, the ruling that would allow same-sex couples in the nation's biggest state to get married.

Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is planning to put a Constitutional initiative on the November ballot to support an amendment to the constitution that would overturn gay marriage.

I assume a lot of bible beaters and anti-gay groups will flood the polls. Since California has a large gay population, I assume many gay people and gay rights supports are going to flood the polls.

I think this is going to make things really murky on how Obama will do in California, because a lot of those anti gay voters will most likely vote McCain.

Forth, I don’t think a vast majority of white women are going fold on a major issue such as abortion rights and vote their rights away by voting for anti-abortion candidate McCain. Maybe the dumb ones who don’t do their research will vote for McCain, but I doubt the other will.

Finally, if people vote for McCain, they will get exactly what they deserve when they vote for McCain. They will be the first to get drafted into McCain’s 100 year war, witness amnesty for illegals, and have to pay an arm and a leg to fly to Canada or Europe for an abortion.

Uh, are you saying that Barack Obama who, graduated with Honors at the top of his class (magna cum laude), is double Ivy League (Columbia University and Harvard Law School), and later was a Professor of Constitutional Law at a top 10 Law School can not fix some of the problems in the US?

Are you saying that McCain who graduated 894th out of 899 (5th from the bottom) in his class at US Naval Academy and never went to Law School or even taught a law class can do a better job?

I live in California and have never seen that type of behavior. However, your comparison is flawed and incorrect.

Comparing a loud over weight black woman who never went to college to a black guy that graduated at the top of his class from America’s top University is off the mark.

Isn't it interesting that when the Fitchburg, MA paper runs an negative editorial about Obama we suddenly have comments from people in South Carolina and California. There are hundreds of pages of detailed plans on his website. Start with the 70 page "Blueprint for Change" PDF that provides an overview of each area (ethics reform, health care, the economy, seniors, energy policy, education, restoring fiscal discipline in washington, plan to support rural communities, foreign policy, veterans affairs, immigration, etc), then follow the links in each section to read the full plan for each area.
