How did they think they would get away with this?? Remember the 20 year old (I might be a little off on the age) who swung on police officers coming out of that bar? The bartenders don't shut people off when they should.

Personally, I think it is HIGH TIME for the Mayor to consult with Chief DeMoura, and the Licensing Commission, and make it clear, the Problem Pubs...either clean up their act, or go out of business. In regard to the person who rebuffed your view, if two people geared to abduct someone are going to a pub, it isn't much of a pub that any upstanding individual would want to go to.

From what I know of Freedom, ME, it is a small town with basically a small town, with a redneck philosophy. Unfortunately people like that...they are everywhere...and unfortunately we face the same things up here...that you folks do down in Fitchburg (however..the government up here...does a great job to hide the facts nor admit to having such problems..)

Not in any way blaming a victim but please girls/ladies - never go into a parking lot alone w/ someone you don't know. Goes along the lines of not accepting an open drink, or leaving an open drink on the bar...
I hate to see this stuff.

Ok Jfranz sorry mommy didn't love you enough but your an %%^$()^*%% yes has there been cases of woman lieing but no where in comparision to the ones telling the truth As far as blaming the bar I can't go with that either bad things happen all over from a church to a school and yes to a bar I know just beause you add alcohol to a person doesn't mean they will become an rapist murderer batterer etc etc that person already has that mind set so please lets stop pointing fingers and try to get people to be more civilized

You could claim this about ANY bar in the area after they have a problem. In fact, any time a bar is even mentioned in the paper - people jump all over it and say it should be closed. The fact is - people drink and some people get violent. This incident doesn't sound like it was caused by alcohol. The man lured her out to his car where his accomplice was waiting. It doesn't sound like he was in Partner's all night being served drink after drink. Bad things are going to happen because there are bad people...not bad bars.(BTW - I am NO fan of Partner's but I definitely don't think the bar should be blamed)

I hate to see this stuff. You are right ! never leave a bar alone. On the rare occasions I am out, I have a friend or two walk me to my car etc. Dont leave your drink with people you dont know. some of my friends make funny of me for these things, but I say Better to be safe than ****, assaulted or Dead.
