Hay: Board to review new city positions - Sentinel & Enterprise

First there will be a so-called reviewing (i.e. political interference) of promotions, and then in hiring and then in firing and then in day-to-day operations etc. This is why Civil Service, for better or worst, was created. If the City Council wants to review something, why not look into how difficult it is for a police or fire chief to effectively discipline slackers and terminate obstructionists under Civil Service rules. It’s politics as usual!

They need to stay out of the running of departments, they hire the best people to run their departments, let them run them.

Why does this guy cry about the running of the department, stay out of it. You did nothing when you were there don't try to come off as being Mr. Smart boy.

Chief DeMoura keep up the good work, demote a few more double and single bars and the place will be a lot better. The patrol officers finally got a chief!

The newspaper should investigate, this is real news.

Let the chief run the department. If he fails, remove him. Therein lies the checks and balances! Politicians do not know anything abour running a police department, even if one was formerly a member of the organization. One does not become all knowing by virtue of a popular vote!

The council needs to stay out of departments, period the end. The mayor needs to send a message to the Council and infrom them they have no business int he day to day operations of any Department.

The City is in shambles because the councilors stick there two cents into things they have no knowledge about. Check out past comments from the Ward 3 Councilor who appears to want to be mayor.

Lisa you need to step up and put these counccilors in there place.

Chief DeMoura continue to do the job you were hired to do. Put the broom back in the closet and clean house with a large stick, something on the lines of a 2 x 4. Start at the top and middle, the grunts on the front lines are a good group of people, just tired of the nasty managers.
