Yet JDF has yet to have figured out, that we have done this trickle down theory with Reagan, Pappa Bush and Son. It doesn't work, and yet he's out there trying to brainwash even more.

After all people, he has his money and he doesn't care about what is going on around him. Of course he'll move to some gated community in Florida like most people as he's done his share of brainwashing people into ruining your community!

Also JDF became a Libertarian, because McCain isn't conservative enough for him...but yet JDF doesn't seem to understand...their ideals JUST DON'T WORK.

If it did...Fitchburg would be prosperous now, and Rommney would have been the GOP nominee!

Thank you Gina: As I am writing this, there is a special on our PBS station up here about Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and they are doing the part about him first getting elected during the Great Depression (something that MOST OF US have never lived through).

I have lived through 4 recessions (which as I read about the Great Depression, it is like a recession, vice versa.) We went through the same problem in 1990. As a banker back in 2003, my manager was saying that the way credit was going out, this country was going to be hurt. 5 years ago....and nobody listened.

According to the State DOR report, Fitchburg is in the lowest 5 percent in Per-Capita Income. Yet I lived in Fitchburg twice (1987-88 and 2000-2007), and when I moved there in 2000, it was obvious that Fitchburg had problems. However when they elected Mylott (who idolized George W. Bush, with his picture in Mylott's Office), everyone thought that things would get better.

Mylott did what George W. Bush (and his followers) do. Spend the government into deficits, and allow the economy to go bust, and everyone will get rich. Reagan, and the 2 Bushes left deficits for the Democrats to clean up. Now they are getting angry, and some are acting psychotic over the GOP's messes.

So with all the name calling...there are people like us who know better. When will they learn? Only when the economy bites them where it hurts, their wallets and their stock portfolios. They all think THEY are immune. With my work in Financial Services...immunity is a fallacy!

Because I was born in Fitchburg.

Because I have relatives who unfortunately live in Fitchburg, a city reduced by a Republican, who idolized our current President who had done a great job over the past 8 years of running the economy, and this country's stature in the global community into the ground.

Because I want to stick it to the many Republican's like you who have for over a decade basically turned a great state as Massachusetts into a dump (Weld, Cellucci, Swift, and Romney).

Because when a person like you who switched parties, because McCain isn't conservative enough for you, only because about the only brain cells he has that aren't senile, probably make him realize that the trickle down theory has not worked (although the small minority like you is calling the majority communists because you got yours..).

Mayor Wong has to make any cuts possible because there's a lot of SELFISH residents in this city that won't even cough up a few bucks a week for trash pick up. If you don't give a little, you won't get a damned thing in return. Mayor Wong is trying, but it's an uphill battle, and everyone smacks her down every time she tries to find ways to generate revenue.

Gotta laugh at the draconian response to a problem... scare everybody into thinking the library will close, or that is the 'only' solution... c'mon, stop yakking and fix the problem, money is not the only answer, but a couple of cups of coffee or a Big Mac each week from half the people would do it.

This is not unusual. Everyone wants it all. Then when you tell them it will cost them two buck a week to get us out of this mess, they act as if you are ripping their wallets from their pockets.
These are the same people that have ran up personal debt that has a choke hold on them.
These are the same people who can relate to keeping the city in the financial hole we are in. They just like to live like this, it's a way of life.

--- Union workers,, Academia,(See, the colleges are packed full of old hippies from the sixties who could never make it on the outside, so they teach instead). The caretaker class, Nurses, Social Workers, people that think that the American Taxpayer is just one big fat tit for everyone in the world to suck on. Welfare recipients (cause the Dems created the "Great society"), Blacks (cause they just are), and of course the worst of all, the Liberal Fools. Usually they are educated, but not smart enough to figure things out for themselves. See, some really dumb people can get through college. That don't make them smart though. Okay, there are also some very talented articulate people in the party as well. Warren Buffet for instance. He was a Republican while he made his fortune, and now that he is in his give it all away mode, he has switched to the Democrats. Most of Hollywood. They really loved it when they had the run of the White House with the Clinton's, and Oh how they hate Christians anyway. One of my personal favorites is Shawn Penn. Did you see him in New Orleans after the storm running around with a shotgun? What a man! Rosie O'Donnal. God, don't you just wish all your daughters would grow up to be just like her?

Oh, dear me, I rushed right over how Bush blew up the levees in New Orleans. How could I have forgotten that. Oh dear, oh dear. Why they have clear video of him running away from the dikes with a cigar in his mouth just after he had lit the fuse on the dynamite. Oh, its true, its true, I saw the video.

Of course if you do some reading on the matter, the money that was appropriated for upgrading the levees all those years seems to have been misplaced. You bet! right into the pockets of crooked Louisiana Politicians. None of the work ever was accomplished. Check on it yourself. Oh, I forgot, You're waiting for the movie to come out, and, and , and besides, you don't have that much spare time to read or run the computer anyway. Meanwhile, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have told you all you need to know on the subject. Case and mind closed.

Oh, oh, oh, but Bush didn't send help in time, and, and, and, and FEMA was incompetent too. Pay no attention to the law that says that the President can't send in troops unless the governor requests them or the president can see a clear need for declaring Martial Law.(Posse Comitatus Act). You can Google that.

Pay no attention at all to the fact that Senator Mary Landreau (D. Louisiana), and School Bus Ray Nagin (D. New Orleans), the city's Mayor, told the Governor not to let the troops in. That they could handle it all themselves and didn't want Bush to get any credit.

Pay no attention at all to all those school buses sitting half submerged that could have been used to evacuate the city. Oh, you don't remember seeing them. Magine that. Pay no attention to the fact that Bush called several times before the storm hit urging them to evacuate.(I actually saw that on the news prior to the Hurricane). Gosh, missed that one too. After all, it was just a trick so he could rob their homes while they were gone. All good Dems know that.

But, but, but Bush just hates black folks. Okay, but pay no attention at all to the fact that all the localities around New Orleans,(like Mississippi), got all the help they asked for. And they're not doing any whining now either. Give me a break. That place was like Sodom and Gomorrah. God flushed the toilet but sadly not all the turds went down. He still needs to flush out the Congress.

The Fitchburg Library has never disappointed me in its service to the community and in its outstanding book and foreign film collections. Its always a pleasure to see the kids from Academy winding their way down to the library at the end of the day.
I go there two times a week, at least, and have never experienced any problems.
It seems librarians are the only people in the world who don't change; they still are as wonderful and as helpful as they were in the 50's.

B. If you knew so much, the only way one becomes a "Mainer" is by way of being born in Maine. I was born in Fitchburg, therefore I cannot be a Mainer.

I started volunteering at the FPL about one month ago. I help with book sales and sell books on-line for them. If people want to help the library, please donate your unwanted books.

I guess people didn't read the statement correctly it was NOT Mayor Wong who stated to close the library completely it was the director Ann Wirtanen ... Maybe they should get rid of her with that attitude she doesn't sound like she cares much for our city or library .. I called and suggested some ideas to Ms Wirtanen and i didn't get any interest response from her .. as to how to save money for the library and to raise money with fund raisers ..

Unfortunately, there are still some disgruntled voters that will take every chance they get to bash the new mayor. They don't want to hear the truth because it doesn't fit into their agenda. Just look at some of the comments, "she (Mayor Wong) needs to figure out what's happening in the city instead of planning walks on Thursdays", "the biggest cuts are being made against those who can't defend themselves.

Good for you for trying to give Ms Wirtnanen some insight into how to do her own job. One that I feel she is totally incapable of doing. When you're given a figure that is a 75% cut in funding, why on earth do you decide to keep all of your highest paid workers??? She kept all the supervisors! Why not do it the right way and have one supervisor and the remainder, clerks. I'm curious, did you actually speak to Ms. Wirtenan or did she not return your call. If you did speak to her, did you ask her what the library trustees plan on doing with the $1.4 million dollars they are sitting on?

You really do have a problem with repeating the same damn things over and over...how many times is it necessary to say that Mylott had Bush's picture in his office? So what!! Does it really mean anything to anyone? I certainly don't give a crap about that kind of thing...how about discussing something relevant? And by the way, you moved away, what the hell do you care?

I would love to, but now I have to wait until September to go to a board meeting because there are no meetings in July and August.

Yes i did speak to Ms Wirtanen 1 time and the other was emails. No i didn't ask her about the trust i'vc emailed the councilors and Mayor in question of the trust and suggested replacing Ms Wirtanen. Of course i didn't get a response back . But don't get me wrong councilors and Mayor have responded to me several times in the past but i think this email wasn't to nice and to the point ...
