Way to be impartial Jason. Didn't know I was reading the opinion page. In reference to " Penny Granich — who was probably at the wheel of Thomas Granich's pickup when it plunged off the edge of a 350-foot cliff in White Rock —"

DWI Defense School 101 I guess if you attempt a murder/suicide while driving around drunk at 2:00am in Los Alamos and kill your passenger, just crawl out of the window and tell the judge that you don't know who was driving. Or if you are in Santa Fe driving around drunk at 2:00am with your headlights off while on blown out tires with an off duty state policeman who happens to be part of Bill Richardsons security detail, and hit a pedestrian killing him, just tell the judge it was really dark outside and you thought it was a rock. These methods will work every time. More NM city strategies to follow.

Good sense prevailed. Sometimes I just hate prosecutors. Who told them their job was to do anything they could to convict everyone they could of everything they could think of? It really tilts the scales against citizens.

ya know, guilty or not it seems to me that the police department that FAILED TO DO THEIR JOB PROPERLY is GUILTY!!! so, answer me this; ms. granich is aquitted but WHO IS "PROTECTING YOU LOS ALAMOS, ms. Granich or THE ENEPT POLICE FORCE??!!" perhaps, the ineptness and ARROGANCE of a FAULTY POICE DEPARTMENT is as guilty as ANYONE for NOT DOING WHAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING. THE SAME POLICE FORCE WHO FAILED TO EXECUTE A SEARCH WARRANT PROPERLY ALLOWING A RESIDENT DRUG DEALER OF A COCAINE-FILLED, MONEY-RIDDEN, GUN-FILLED HOME GO FREE!!!! get over yourselves, and wake-up!! a truck travels HUNDREDS OF FEET from the road and INTO A RAVINE and the POLICE DON'T TREAT THE SCENE LIKE A CRIME SCENE???!!! the ONLY folks who DID THIER JOB PROPERLY was the DEFENSE TEAM!!!

You can't just throw everyone you want in prison. Someone has to put the brakes on this policy of building prisons and finding criminals to fill them with.

This one is simple: the defense lawyers beat the prosecutors. That's all there is to it. The lesson is: hire prosecutors who are as smart as the defense lawyers.....

It sucks for everyone concerned. For her, laying there all night night long with her dead husband nearby and not being able to do anything to help. For his children, parents and family having to bury their fahter, son and brother. Why do people who don't know the parties, much less the facts, feel they must judge the sad event that resulted in this trial? We need to remember, none of us have all the facts and apparently the jury felt the facts that were presented were not enough to convict. Right or wrong, she was judged innocent by her peers and there's not a thing any of those of us who want to hang her can do about it. My two cents, don't flame for them.

isn't the prosecutor the same one who was fired from another da's office? sounds like he did not know what he was doing if 2 other da's declined the case. and we pay his salary? maybe the attorney general should get better prosecutors!

Th detective should be nicknamed bungler, his family gets into trouble all of the time. No wonder she got acquitted. LAPD harasses, not works. Remember when we had to write into the paper to get the meth house taken care of, and they even waited a week after that, with a dead guy in the car in the front of the house? "Right or wrong, she was judged innocent by her peers and there's not a thing any of those of us who want to hang her can do about it. " Sure there is, next time fire and rehire for a detective who wants to work.

Got followed by the cops, and Torpy himself, day after posting here. Told you they don't work, hey Torpy! How about putting my neighbor who beats his gf and her daughter into jail, instead of using him and dan milligan as an informant alone?
