A fake graduation @ a fake school with a fake degree. Don't worry, I won't say anything, should anyone ask.

I've lived in Santa Fe for 30 years. Never took a class at CSF. I couldn't afford to, but that was not the fault of the professors nor the students. It was the fault of a short-sighted administration that was out of touch with with our town. Do not blame Marci Sullivan. Do not take this out on the students. Are our memories that short that we don't remember who stood by while the college slipped into this mess and seemed to do nothing to stop it. Look no further than Highlands University, and knock on the door of the president.

Your ignorance shines brightly. Conducting a grad ceremony away from the actual college, alma mater? What a joke! This has got to be a first, one for NM history books for certain. If this were not so pathetic, it may be entertaining. In the meantime, all CSF staff soo very dedicated to CSF administration. Why?(What a bunch of knuckleheads.) Steal em' blind I say, down to pencils & pens.

It's really nice to see the Santa Fe, and great NM community is so supportive of us. Thanks a lot! This isn't the first school in America to close down and I'd like to think that my education was not "Fake" as you said. A degree from a long gone university hasn't trumped one of my bosses--and she is one of the most successful women I know. And yes, why are you taking it out on the students, what have we done to offend you? It's not as though we enrolled at CSF knowing the financial issues, knowing the school would close. You should be happy, as we are, that we seniors actually get the degree we payed for, And as for having it off campus, I was told that we'd only started having it in the Tennis Center a few years ago, that we'd had it in several other off campus venues before. So really, what's the big deal? Many colleges hold their graduation ceremonies elsewhere. And also, graduation is May 16, just to clarify. Protesting the commencement is pointless at this time. And it is besmirching to the Community College, as they have so generously donated their space and time to us, knowing we have a need for it. I, for one, appreciate it very much and find that the people who don't want to have it there are not taking into consideration the amount of planning that goes into this kind of event. You can't just shift gears now that everything is rented (chairs, PA systems, etc.) Can't we all just get through this last month amicably? Can't we just enjoy each other's company while we still are able to? And if some of my classmates do not want to have their graduation at CC, then fine, don't show up. But I know I will be there and so will a lot of other seniors. We just want our diploma--drama free if possible. And again, thank you soooo much for the big F you's. We really appreciate it. Really motivates us to finish our semester well. With good grades. Etc. Really motivates me to think my "fake" degree won't get me into graduate school.

When I graduated from CSF in 2004, it was held at the Glorieta conference center. Before that they held graduation at the SF Opera. CSF commencement ceremonies have been held elsewhere for many, many years.

Today, every graduating senior could stop attending class today and still receve an "A" in the course, right? Why would anyone care at this point?

I'll take NMHU, SFCC, NNMC, NMSU, UNM any day of the week over this CSF fiasco.

I in no way consider a degree from CSF "fake" and I too congratulate those who are graduating. I am saddened by the demise of CSF. I have a BA (Theatrical Lighting) which in the 80's when I got it opened many doors. Today, that has not been the case. I went back and eventually obtained a MEE when a BA and years of practical experience did not get me anywhere. I hope in the years to come, the appreciation of education in all forms comes back around. Part of that is societal and I hope I am seeing the trend to appreciate a broader input, especially from the Arts and Humanities.

Whoever you are from Socorro... no one gives two sh*ts about your opinion... CLEARLY! And guess what, your idiotic and meaningless comments do nothing to change the overall amazing experience I have had at the college. What makes a college valuable is not its administration (which has clearly failed in this situation--though I do want to say that Pres. Kirk is not to blame), but rather its faculty, staff and students. I have met some of the most amazing people on this planet at the college. Not only have I made life long friends among the students, but also with the faculty and staff. You, Socorro person, can do NOTHING to diminish that. And thanks to everyone who does show support. I really do appreciate that and so does the CSF community.

Oh, and no, we can't just stop showing up to class and still get an A. Our professors care way more than that to just pass people, let alone give them As.
You'd be surprised by the enrollment in the Creative Writing classes, at least the upper divisions I am in. People still show up, feeling down, yes, but still try and do the best they can given the circumstances.
