They're freakin' drug dealers. I don't care which band of the ethnic rainbow they represent. Put 'em outta business. Equal opportunity drug bust, baby.

Equal opportunity drug bust, baby. __________ I agree if their dealing drugs , arrest em ,, I think what socmonkey may be reffering to is that so many comments in the heat of this discussion and related discusions and storys is that the words "mexiacn , Latino, and ect are used but the cops and the sentinel fail to represent that in their photos attactched to this story . It kinda makes what the cops are saing in public gatherings and so many citizens )although many are racist in their remarks ) are saying as well . If we do indeed have a major problem with hispanic or latino gangs , why were there not photos in respect of that Hmmm????? Kindfa gives a different picture than what is being said by the lovcal law enforcement and the sentinel as well . Just the same all race issues aside ,, Any dope dealer off the street is a good good thing .

Yea, good to take some gang bangers off the streets; but it would be better to put these parasites out of business permanently by legalizing their wares. As long as there's a big illegal profit to be made, we'll have gangsters infiltrating our community. And even though I have some trepidation about making drugs even more pervasive than they already are (by legalizing them), it's clear that we can't enforce them away, so better to tax them and rid ourselves of the gang associated violence.

The police sure took their sweet time to crackdown. Why wasn't this a part of their regular beat to begin with...and do I trust that they will they continue? Keep it front and center Sentinel.

Great job! Let's hear it for the SC police. If they can continue this "sweep" perhaps the wrong-doers will be discouraged enough to give it up, at least in SC. Keep sending the message!

I doubt the SC Police had much to do with the busts. They don't do drug busts. They more than likely controlled traffic for the Sheriff's department.

I am happy that they are doing these drug sweeps, but shouldn't they be doing these on a more regular basis? That would discourage drug dealing in public places like lower Pacific Ave.

It appears as if the Police have rounded up the few blacks in Santa Cruz and these are the alleged "drug dealers." How about publishing the names and photographs of the gang members? If we knew their names and what they looked like we could either avoid them or keep an eye on them. Maybe the good citizens of Santa Cruz could empower themselves to run these fools out of town -- if we only knew their identities.....
