I received one of those letters too and I am from Houston. I knew it had to be an illegitimate letter because there was no phone number listed in the letter. I ALWAYS follow up on any kind of mail that involves personal business such as this. I have never heard of John Fife with the tax assessors office hear. I got online and he is no where to be found other than hear linked to a scam. I'm sure that's not his real name. NEVER give your personal info. to anyone, especially for a fee. I sent my own letter back to this person telling him that I am going to blast his business everywhere to everyone!!

I received the letter and unfortunately filled it out and mailed it back. I did put security locks on the credit bureaus, have extra securities in place, and notifed authorities. It is a shame because I actually know better than to do this. I am pursuing criminal charges against this person and his so-called corp.

I received the same letter from Proprty Tax Assessor Records Corp. P.O box 752, Riverside CA. this PO box is close to the real Tax Assessor mailing address. They asked for payment as I submitted an application to their office. The letter was real to the offcial county assessor ..I dont eben remember if I did. Additionally the company aske for $39.00 for valuation processing for the property... why would I ask for that as the home is brand new. I haven't send the payment yet...I need any advivce if I should even if I sent the application(I dont remember if I did). I am almost sure I did nt request any additional evaluation. Thks.

I received the same thing and almost fell for it. I'm glad I ran into this thread. The things that threw me off were that lines that said they were not affiliated with any government agency and that they wanted a fee to process it. Also, the valuation was off. They said my house was valued more than what I had paid which is correct if they used the previous owners purchase price.

I paid the $59 and filled the form mail to the sacramento ca local PO box. I got fooled this time because I did fill a exemption form that I downloaded from the sacramento county office website, and I don't remember if I got any respone from the county. Then about 2 months later I got the leter from that PTARC, then I thought maybe the county changed the procedure recently, anyway I was studip.
How to get the money back? although I remind me don't trust anyone but myself, sometime still got fooled.

I feel so stupid! I did get the letter I did not think twice because I knew I was over paying on my taxes because I had not filed my exemption for the past four years I had been living in it. Since I'm a super busy mom, educated and have a 8-5 I just sent my money and provided my information. When I called Bexar County office to follow up they said mam I am so sorry this is no charge to do that. There are companies out there who are scam artist and are just taking peoples money. I am sooooo upset because for as smart as I am I feel so stupid

You may get help from them.
