Did you see the Channel 5 News last night?
http://cbs5.com/topstories/local_story_114010...
San Mateo County Sheriff Munks and his undersheriff Carlos Bolanos were being driven around Vegas in a limo and somehow found themselves swept up for questioning in a prostitution bust after allegedly visiting the alleged massage parlor. Bolanos said Munks was sore (LOL).........
First we have the San Mateo County Courts and other County agencies referring minors to an alleged pedophile psychiatrist for several years. Now we have the Sheriff and Undersheriff being questioned in a Las Vegas prostitution sting.
Wake up people, San Mateo County government needs to be cleaned up by the voters. Time to get some new Supervisors, a new DA, a new Sheriff, and new judges......

Munks and Bolanos are not only criminals, they're stupid -- if they needed to visit a hooker so bad, you'd think they'd do it in the part of the Nevada where prostitution is legal!

Both need to resign ASAP! How can they enforce the law anymore?

Munks, who was sworn in as sheriff of San Mateo County on Jan. 8, read a brief statement but declined to take questions.

"I believed I was going to a legitimate business," Munks said. "It was not," he said.
----------

So, he is saying he planned on going to a legal brothel...

In my opinion, these two have violated the public's trust and should resign immediately. If they won't resign, then there should be an investigation by the State of California Department of Justice into their conduct to see exactly what happened here or if there is a pattern of conduct with these two that is not compatible with them holding a job in law enforcement.

The problem here is that a Sheriff and the number two guy at the Sheriff's Department are not supposed to be engaged in any activity that has the hint of impropriety. As sworn law enforcement officers they must meet the highest standards of integrity and moral conduct.

Gee, that's probably the excuse Munks and his buddy are going to trot out to defend themselves. Doesn't wash. The Sheriff and Undersheriff are, by the nature of their job, held to the highest standards of morality and integrity. These are not two guys out on spring break. These are the two highest ranking law enforcement officers in San Mateo County. If they want to use the excuse you made. Then they need to resign so that they can conduct their lives by the lower moral standard you described.

Also, Munk's excuse is lame. Apparently, the 'ho' house Munks and his undersheriff were visiting may be located in a high crime area in Las Vegas. This was a private residence secluded from business districts. No street signage, no licenses. Nobody except cabbies, limo drivers, law enforcement, and a few disgruntled neighbors would have knowledge of their existance. For Munks to say he went there for a legitimate massage is ridiculous.

I am a neighbor of Sheriff Munks . I have know Greg for 20 years and his wife since kindergarten. I know Greg holds himself to high moral standards . I am certain Greg did nothing wrong . At most , YES wrong place at the wrong time ! I feel for Greg and his ' family.

Also in my opinion the media loves this kind of thing . Yes the media does lean towards the left . They all believed President Clinton , he lied ! Sheriff Munks wound not lie !

I agree. Munks holds himself to very high standards. He only goes to whorehouses in Las Vegas where the real pros work.

I think its absurd that some people (usually of low moral standards) hold cops to such high moral stanards that they think someone should resign for attempting to do something that is legal in most of Nev.

On the other hand, they should resign for being so stupid to end up in the sleaziest dump in Nev., get caught, then lie and say they were looking for a message for tired legs. If they are that stupid they have no business running any large organization.

One can get a legit' message in all the hotels there.

I am a relative of Greg, and I can absolutely affirm what Bill A said. He has always been someone that myself and other family members look up to and respect. He would never do anything he thought was breaking the law. I think it's hard for people to believe that anyone can be naiive at one time or another.
I wish everyone would stop being so harsh on him and realize that people CAN BE in the wrong place at the wrong time. This incident doesn't change anything about his ability as the sheriff.
Sometimes I think people just want to point the finger and punish those in a public office for their own personal enjoyment.

You make a good point. Munks and Bolanos must be two of the dumbest MFers around. They go to Las Vegas, where there are legal whorehouses all over the place, and get caught up in a sting operation at an illegal whorehouse......the real scary thing is that these guys (the dumb and dumber twins) carry guns........

Interesting editorial in the San Mateo Daily Journal calling for Munks and Bolanos to resign if they don't answer the public's questions:

Whether this is a case of "wrong place, wrong time" remains to be seen- I think people really need to mind their own business and not make such a big deal about this. We all make mistakes from time to time and the only reason this is being discussed is because these men are public officials. To say someone should resign because of something they did on their own time (and their own dime) is absolutely absurd.

I completely agree. I'm not saying that they're innocent, nor am I saying they're guilty... I am saying that things happen, people need to get over it. People are shallow and the media is blowing this up way more than it should be.

IT's amazing how many people are defending the man.

Look, folks--EVERY hotel in Vegas has a spa, and common sense would tell you to get a LEGITIMATE massage at the hotel you're staying at. You go to an unmarked building in a questionable part of town only if you want something more than a massage. I just hope he had a "happy ending."
