It is interesting that this accused child molester was commending him for his "commitment to children" by none other than the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors and had clients (victims) referred to him by Juvenile Court Supervising Judge Marta Diaz, Chief Probation Officer Loren Buddress, and Gerry Hilliard, managing attorney for the Private Defender Program in juvenile court and now he gets a reduction in bail from $1.5 million to $250,000 by San Mateo Superior Court Judge Thomas McGinn Smith. I guess these folks stick pretty close together.

What type of people do we have running San Mateo County's government? It appears that the reckless and grossly negligent decisions and actions by people in positions of power in San Mateo County's government are endangering the community.

Maybe it is time for the FBI to investigate San Mateo's County government?

14 is no where near the true amount. Absolutly agree people in the county, even though he was reported years ago fed him victims.

How do you get molested victims to come forward. Check the statistics on rape victims. Even when they come forward they are discounted and rapeists receive light sentences only. The victims are put against attorneys only to make them feel worse.

Also, Bill's case, oh sorry William Ayes case is a perfect justification to have the statute of limitations removed. Anyone Adult, Priest, Dr. should always be held accountable for molesting a child from the first offense. Dr.'s Priest especially, should have special circumstance charges filed. The victim lives with the molestation the rest of their lives while molesters, especially like Ayers with friends in the county go free. How is this justice?

Don't you have to prove this first? What if someone makes up a story, and says twenty years ago you molested them. How can you defend yourself?

I hate these cases where many years go by before something is reported. I think a ststute is needed because anyone can claim anything happened twenty-thirty years ago. You simply cannot prove yourself innocent even if you beat the rap.

The biggest problem in this case is that the judges themselves are involved because they and their associates in the juvenile justice system were feeding this guy victims. Now, they appear to be getting together and participating in a whitewash by reducing his bail to a ridiculously low level and working behind the scenes to help him.

By helping this guy, isn't the San Mateo County judiciary making itself part and parcel of the child molestation problem?

We know there are MANY victims of Dr. Ayres who have not come forward. Many of them are posting on the San Mateo Daily Journal comnunity forum under the crime and courts section. I urge victims to take a look at that site. In particular, look under "Dr. Ayres - for victims and friends" and pay attention to a posting named Zush. And we urge all victims to report the abuse to the San Mateo police department. There is a hearing scheduled on July 5.

Cinque- If you read the papers, you will see that boys came forward in the 1980s shortly after they were molested. The police did nothing. That's why they are coming forward again.

Happy1,

You are right on target on this one....

Original bail set by Hon. Judge Carl Holm $1,500,000

Hon. Judge Thomas Smith reduced bail to $250,000

Judge Smith should have recused himself as he was a Judge at Hillcrest and referred boys to Dr. William Ayres

Judge Carl Holm raised it to $750,000 after more boys and counts were added.

We the residents of San Mateo County have no assurances that our Judges are acting properly..

How did Judge Smith even get on this case...

How and Why does Dr. William Ayres get any bail.

Does Hon Judge Carl Holm need to RECUSE himself?

I don't know if he does or not I do know he worked for James P. Fox as a prosecutor during the 1980's

I would like to see the San Mateo Board of Supervisors or the Citizens Review Panel there open an investigation into the 1987 police investigation into Dr. Ayres. No one has really bothered to find out what happened.

Also don't forget 1987 San Mateo Police Department.....
Opened and Closed an investigation in the Hogue case.

Why was that investigation closed....Who ordered it closed? Did the District Attorney's Office advise the San Mateo Police Department to stop the investigation?

Why wasn't Dr. William Ayres arrested in 1987?

I am hearing that the Citizens Review Panel is going to be looking into what happened to the 1987 investigation into Greg Hogue's complaint against Ayres and why the County ignored the red flags. They are meeting in July to discuss this.

That's how sick the system is...there must have been some safeguard within the child psych community...to be a child shrink..then within the community of shrinks...child shrinks are respected much more than adult shrinks...because they study human from birth..I think like the Church..where molestation is not uncommon..the APA should look into this..APA means the American Psy Association..and put in more safeguard..If my daughter has some psy problem, I would never hesitate to send her to see a shrink..and if later I found out he exam my daughter's hernia..and the resulting pain and confusion..I would kill him..

I think he is a psychopath..and nothing more than that...

Tom,

Can you keep us posted on the Citizens Review Panel.....

Some of the names to be looked at are:

James P. Fox District Attorney in 1987
Hon. Judge Marta Diaz was a DDA in 1987
Hon. Judge Thomas Smith (He is the Judge who reduced bail from $1,500,000 to $250,000....He was also in charge of Juvie Hall Court and referred boys to Dr. William Ayres.)

Yes, Ayres is a psychopath. He has ruined boy's lives. Some have committed suicide; some have become alcholics to bury the memories.

And Ayres has no remorse whatsoever for destroying these boys' lives.
