How long before he promotes his son and daughter to captains? What supervising officer is going to treat these two like any other cops?

Is he going to do away with special order 40 and actually reduce crime? My guess is that since he was picked by Tony Rap, he will just be another leg humper like Bratton.

After Fast Tony Villar was re-elected every decent citizen knows that leaving is probably the best option. The Racist publicly refers to ILLEGALS as we and the pathetic chumps who voted for him as THEY. Is it self loathing that drives Calif. Democrats to elect creatures like Villar?

One BIG HUGE step in the right direction.

On behalf of all law abiding Citizens, thank you Mayor Villaraigosa for doing the right thing. The silent majority fully supports your decision. The new Chief is a great choice.

Hopefully we can continue to run the criminals out of Town. Its now time to declare full war on Gangs and all the other creeps the Judges let out. Enough is enough. NO FEAR!

Everyone of the violent and corrupt police officers who shot rubber bullets at innocent people peacefully gather in MacArthur Park May Day kept their jobs. We know them personally. They are the sickest bunch of sadistic criminal operating as law enforcement. They have broken my bones, sexually assaulted me and others, writing false reports, causing me to be tortured in the streets and jail... AND THIS IS AMERICA?!!! This guy Beck,
was in charge at Rampart precinct when all of this was happening. Bullpucky about police fighting gangs...the gangs run the streets of Rampart, Alvarado, and radius areas, dealing drugs, phoney I.D. and shootings. Police P.R. is media hype. The media people don't care if you are victim of the police, the doctors cover up for them too. The court system sets the police free to have a license to murder.

Sure they have... and you're just a poor little innocent law abiding citizen minding your own business in that part of town. Try reading the BS you just wrote.

I think Beck's lack of command experience, and knowing of some of his associations with command officers that were/are ethically challenged, and who lack any semblance of integrity, the City of Angels will bear the responsibility and shortcomings of Villaraigoza's short-sighted decision!
And you base this on what?

I was also hoping the more educated McDonnell would be LAPD's next leader.

APC Jim Mcdonnell has been a personel friend of mine for over 20 years. Fine officer and dedicated to his profession. I wish DC Beck much success as he is a dedicated law enforcement professional. They have a fine team, many years of service together, best wishes to DC Beck in taking the LAPD to the next level.

Thanks for your answer. Now, where do I go from here. I've tried to put a complaint at the Rampart station, but the officer that I've a complaint about works at the same station, and I doubt very much they would do anything about it. They stick together. So, now I wonder whatever happened to their motto. "Serve and Protect". So, who are they protecting? Maybe these posting will catch their attention and help those that need their help. This is pathetic that I've to come here to make it public in order to get their attention. This is sad. Sad, sad, sad.

If you knew the Beck's you would know that there is noting but honesty and integrity in everything they do. Martin in my friend and would never take anything that was not earned. That is the kind of person he and Brandi are and were raised to be.

I'll take your word for it because I don't know any different. But I'll hold to my belief that government is rife with nepotism and cronyism -- and it shouldn't be. His children will always be given special treatment as the "boss's kids." That's fine for the owner of private business. But it's wrong in government. His kids should seek employment elsewhere.

The choice of Beck as the new Chief of L.A.P.D. is long overdue. This department needed an appointment from within.
