Full story: Park Record

Faced with pressure from the state Legislature to crack down on illegal immigrants, Park City Police Chief Wade Carpenter says he is leery of some provisions in a tough new set of immigration laws slated to take effect July 1. Senate Bill 81 requires the Office of the Utah Attorney General to negotiate an agreement with the U.S. government so local ...

ONCE YOU GET RID OF ALL THE ILLEGAL ALIENS, YOU GET RID OF ALL THE PROBLEMS THAT GO WITH THEM!

Utah, stand tall, you did the right thing in passing an Illegal Immigration Law. It's the very best thing you could have did for you State, and the very best thing you could have done for the LEGAL residents of Utah.

You got the law, now just enforce it. Many States will be joining you, that you can be sure.

Dave edmunds is a joke, avery sad joke. this guy will do anything to get out of work. his deputies are to fat to be effective law enforcement agents, so he passes the buck. please remember his dereliction of duty when he runs for reelection.

Oh boy Herald, maybe we can get our behinds sued off and spend lots of tax payers dollars...just like Oklahoma! My best to both our Chief and Sheriff for not backing down to little men and their ratty haired wives and their racist views. Oh and Delaware Bob, you have something in your nose.

That's what illegals want Americans to do...fear being sued and roll over on our backs so that they can trot all over us as they run to the welfare offices scooping up entitlements for their far too many American-born children. They contribute little to nothing, and are constantly digging deeper into our pockets. Taking your stance is what got this country into the mess it is in now with the rampant influx of illegals. They are a detriment to our country, and now is not the time to look the other way. Enforcement of our laws is in no way an act of racism. Continuing to allow illegals a place to roost would be far costlier in the end, and you have to be a fool not to understand that fact

Both of our local law enforcement leaders are taking the correct tactic. If a crime is committed or discovered, and the suspected perpetrator is aprehended, then a simple check on the immigration status will determine how to proceed. This is sensible, intelligent, and proper. Undocumented criminals will be dealt with, and I don't think this is very different from how things are currently handled. The idea of rounding up all hispanics, and treating citizens or legal immigrants as automatic suspects of immigration violations is abhorrent, un-American, and totally racist. The idea of local police and deputies attacking communities or ethnicities should be reserved for "end-times" fantasies and sci-fi movies.

I have enjoyed the 4 years I've lived in Park City. I am a well qualified chef, and thanks to the massive Illegal imegrant population, I can no longer afford to live here. Look around, there are illegals working 2 or 3 jobs. And the government wonders why the unemployment rate keps going up. Every place in this town would rather save a couple of bucks hiring illegals instead of paying qualified american citizens. That's why the food quality in Park City's resturaunts is OK at best. Thanks for nothing Park City!

Park City's restaurants rank among the best in the country. I am sure that you, personally, are "OK at best", but that is probably why you did not make it here. I gladly paid $80 for food plus $40 for wine pairing at Wahso's Savor the Summit event, and felt I got my money's worth. Sounds like you got fired from the Park Avenue Burger King, so GO AWAY. We have many fine restaurants here - and PC is are preparing to welcome "Spruce" at The Canyons so we don't need losers like you. Move aside and make room for a REAL chef who appreciates an appreciative public.

So, you favor pseudo chefs,(AKA illegals who cook), you know, those who have had no formal training, nor any health screenings. You go right ahead patronizing the places who place greed over the safety of their patrons' health. How can anybody with half a brain appreciate having folks rife with TB, hepatitis, and other assorted sundry diseases handling their foods?

Since you are the person with half a brain, you tell us. Do you seriously think that ZOOM employs an illegal alien as a chef? Wahso? Ghidotti's? Grappa? But then, how would you know, since you are not even from this area? You are a bigoted idiot, and you have no idea what you are talking about. I absolutely WILL go on patronizing local restaurants -which you have never visited - and support the local economy in every way I can. Meanwhile why don't you try to get a job?

Sweetie, I hate to tell you, but look in the kitchens of many fine restaurants, you'd be surprised to see who is handling the food. Also, I have held the same job for 25 years, one that I consider to be a very rewarding one as well.

Best in the country! That's pretty funny. Where do you see any PC resturaunt ranked outside of the state of UT?$120 for dinner, that's nice. The point is the wages. Who can live here for $10-12 an hour? You know nothing about me or my qualifications, so unless you knowwhat your talking about, it's best not to talk!

"CudzuQueen", walking the streets of a small town under the flattering glow of red street lights does not exactly qualify as gainful employment. As for "summit park" in Orem: I personally know at least 10 REAL chefs in this town, and trust every one of them to prepare a meal for me - and am happy to pay the moderate Park City price for their incredible services. If you can't make it here, maybe you could try another small town where people don't know what good restaurants are. Or maybe you could just try another career. But be forewarned: there are almost no job openings for "experienced whiners".

I have never been fired from ANY job! Did you bother to read what I wrote or are you just another babbling idiot? The comments are about the WAGES!! PC not is the culinary meca of the world, maybe just UT.
I was an executive chef, in a BIG city for years, before I moved hear. So, once again, if you don't have any idea what you're talking about you shouldn't say anything.

pc taxpayer, you are rather an insulting poster. Cudzuqueen said nothing to warrant such vitriol. One shouldn't post until one is housebroken.

FYI, I grew up in Chicago, so I DO know about big cities and fine dining, dearie. Also, not that it's any of your concern, but I work for the state of Mississippi...more like under the glow of fluorescent lighting. By the way, I don't do chain restaurants either.

"CudzuQueen" said: "How can anybody with half a brain appreciate having folks rife with TB, hepatitis, and other assorted sundry diseases handling their foods?" So "Estoban" (can't you even spell correctly in SPANISH???) do you seriously want respect for THAT? You are both laughable. Park City does not have a public health problem with TB or hepatitis, so you must be thinking of your own kitchens, not here. You do not live here and nobody in Park City is interested in your bigoted puke. And - OH BOY, what an opening - the queen "works" for the state of Mississippi - one of the LEAST educated states in the Union (not opinion - FACT). And just how many 4-star restaurants are there in Birmingham, DEARIE? Or do you only use your barbecue skills for burning crosses?
