What a shame. I've read this book three times and think about what a great guy Jerry must have been. I frequented the Fremont Bar that he purchased and met him once. What a shame that he was betrayed by the little bastard scumbag that he only tried to help. The death penalty was the right sentence and it hopefully will be carried out soon. I'd love to be a witness.

Just finished the book and hope Steve Bonilla gets his due. What a waste of precious air.

I've just finished reading Ann Rule's book and can't stop thinking about the sad end to a couple so in love. I've looked on the internet and can't believe that that lowlife piece of scum, Steven Bonilla is still alive. Why? I hope that Susan Harris is ok.

I finished the book last week and I'm catch myself thinking about it all the time. I want to model my ways after him. Jerry was such a cool guy. I started reading the book thinking ohhh a rich guy, snob etc.... I was wrong big time. I don't think I ever moved by a story, but this one made me feel all weird inside, my girlfriend told me I was moved. So I guess I was moved. I just feel funny saying that word, but thats it though! I will always remember this great guy!

I thought that i was the only one that was reading these books. It seems as though i just completely lose my self in these books. I hate to know that these terrible things have happened to all these undeserving people out there. My heart goes out to all of you that lose anyone in such a horrendous manner!!!! I hope that someday any one that has lost anyone will find the peace that seek so desperately.

I just finished Anne Rule's book "In the Name of Love". I don't really believe in the death penalty except in certain circumstances, and this story is one where Steve Bonilla certainly does deserve to die. The murder was thoroughly thought out, and he even went so far as to try to have Susan Harris, Jerry's widow murdered. Yes, California is taking far to long to execute this sociopathic scumbag!

It was such a tragic story. I used to frequent Jerry's nightclub in Fremont and found him to be a great guy with a ready smile. To think that a low life worm like Bonilla could have ended such a wonderful life is sickening. All Jerry ever did to Steve Bonilla was befriend him and give him opportunities. What a shame.

I used to work at the Hot Rod Cafe in Alameda and met Jerry and his wife Susan a few times, he was such a nice person, very pleasant, friendy and his wife Susan was the same. I remember when this incident happened everyone was so sad, it was such a loss to all involved. I hope that Susan is doing well and that Bonilla burns in .... where he deserves to be!

Good to see justice prevails and Bonilla is still in prison. I was on the first jury Jan-June92. It was a very sad case. Such a waste of life both ways, the murdered and the low lifes who committed the murder that now sit in prison. It was amazing Jerry was found in NV in order that those involved could be tried.

You and your family have our sympathy. May you all find true peace one day. |

I played little league and was in school with Bonilla. Never was much of anything special (his own problem.) I also delivered the Palo Alto times newspaper to the Harris family. I remember when Jerry got shot in the stomach by a .22, bought at the sporting goods store where I got my first baseball glove (Eddies Sport Shop on Castro Steet.)
Sad sad thing to see people I knew create and endure such pain. Hello to Sandy and Sandra, the twin siblings. Steve deserves what's a comin' |

I cannot stop thinking about this story. I just read Ann Rule's book. I really hope Susan has found peace. What a horrible ending to such a great love story. I have read most of Ann Rule's books but this story just keeps sticking with me. I wish the best for his family.

I grew up with the Harris's. I feel so sorry for the brothers Jim, Don, and Sandy and their sister Sandra. We all went to school together and Steve Bonilla also went to the same high school. Bonilla was a follower of the Harris's because they were so successful in what they did. It's to bad Jerry let the low life into his business, but that was Jerry allways helping people. Now let Bonilla pay for what he did.

I just finished reading "In the name of love" by Ann Rule. I had never before heard of Jerry Lee Harris, I was only 6 when he died. Their story touched me because of Susan. Susan was so strong. She was a hero to me. I can not imagine the hell she went thru searching for Jerry, finding out he had been dead all along, learning that one of Jerry's closest friends was responsible and then living on the run in fear for her life. When they say, "the wheels of justice move slowly" they are not kidding. Susan is awesome for sticking around to see that Jerry got the justice he deserved.
Susan, you are an inspiration for all victims! Thank you for allowing Ann Rule to tell you and Jerry's story, I will never forget it. |
