And what does that say about you that you took the time to publicly bad mouth a dead man? You are cowardly trash.

He was absolutely the greatest stand-up commedian we have known. He transcended four decades of commedy, was the singularly most inventive and talented commedian of his time.
George's body will now be returned to the earth, yet his spirit will remain with those who loved his work and who pass on his memory. George was not a teller of jokes, he was an artist. For those who dislike him because you disagreed with his politics or whose pious little world disavowed certain words, how pitiful. You didn't learn from George-- but millions did!
Amen! Laughter is the best medicine. I saw one of shows live, and I will truly miss him.

A wonderful Message by George Carlin:
The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.
We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.
We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.
These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...
Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.
Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.
Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.
Remember, to say,'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.
Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.
Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
If you don't send this to at least 8 people....Who cares?
Rest in peace George
I'm sorry but George didn't write that. In fact he denied having anything to do with that "sappy load of **** ".

As for being sacriligious, do you think someone who wasn't sure there was a God would worry about such a thing?
I never knew him as a person and I've never read much about him wither. I watched him a little years ago and didn't care for his type of comedy. I personally would have to rate him near the bottom as far as great comedians go.

Of course I'm more into family type, wholesome comedy which I realize is way out of style.

You have your opinion and some of us have another. I see no reason why comedians have to resort to vulgarity if they are truly funny. It's the same way in music or even discussions for that matter.

But I realize, that's my opinion.

There are some comedians who just wouldn't be so funny if you took out all the swear words. Imagine Richard Pryor or Eddie Murphy, for instance, without bad language. It takes a real expert, like Bill Cosby, to appeal to today's audience without one profanity in his whole routine, to put us on the floor laughing. I would say they would be better comedians if they took out all the f-bombs, or else go into a different line of work.

Maybe, but vulgarity isn't limited to swear words.

Oh, I totally agree, and today there just isn't any subject that's taboo. If anyone saw "Last Comic Standing" just tonight on NBC, there was a routine that included vaginas, one woman included "Bi*ch", I'm talking prime time, non-cable channel. I did not hear any of those seven words tonight, but have heard a couple recently. I think I'm paying closer attention these days. Things sure have changed.

I've read some of your other writings as well as this one. You think Bush is a great leader, and you think Carlin was a lousy comedian.

Do you realize how warped your perception is ?

Bill Cosby may not use "foul language" in his routines, but he sure did eff u cee kay his own daughter in her paternity suit. Lovely man.

George Carlin knew how to take reality, and present it to us in a way that was humorous- rather than stressful.

I'm sorry if profanity causes you stress- since it's a part of life, and all around you- your blood pressure must be through the roof. How are those medical bills going?

Carlin appealed to many, and is considered a landmark comedian.
He did not appeal to your tastes, but he did to many others.
No need to insult a man who passed. Only true trash would do that.

Got it on right now--thanks for the tip!

As far as profanity and my blood pressure is concerned, thanks for asking and it's fine. I don't lose sleep over it, and like I SAID, sometimes there's only ONE word that fits in a frustrating situation. I was surprised about the SUBJECTS being discussed on prime-time, non-cable television. Look somewhere else to argue.

Wow. You need to tip on how you avoid reality, every day- cuz every day, I hear profanity, I hear and see lots of things I personally don't approve of- I, however, don't take those things personally.

I also pick and choose what entertainment I prefer, without passing judgement on others-

Maybe that's why I prefer George's sense of humor. He puts reality into a more "real" form.

He allowed us to laugh at things, that on a day to day basis, might otherwise "stress" us out.
It's all about perspective. Glass half full, or half empty.

How do you see your glass?

Oh, and Sandy- I've worked in the movie and television industry for over 25 years now. Mr. Cosby may not use any foul "language" in his routines, but he has cheated on his wife, and fathered children out of wedlock.

Neither he nor his publicist, or agent, will ever admit to this. He is is a liar, and a phony. As long as the public remain sheep, he will prevail.

Believe what you want- it's your RIGHT- and what our military children are dying for- your RIGHT to be free, and believe whatever fairytale is presented to you. Your stupidity has no bearing here- we are in the good ole' USA- you have the right to be uninformed, uneducated, and stupid.

God Bless.

Wow! Who's blood pressure is hitting the roof? In my comments, I, at no time, commented on the personal lives of ANY of the comedians. Their comedy schtick has no bearing on their personal lives, obviously, which are really none of my business.

Just because I hear profanity in the real world doesn't make it something I particularly enjoy hearing when I want to laugh. I merely made an observation of the different styles of comedy. I enjoyed the heck out of Richard Pryor's stand up routines, but he set himself on fire free-basing and shot up his wife's car and got arrested, wife number 3? 4? Who was counting? I just enjoyed his show. And it wouldn't have been as funny w/o the profanity. Comedians like him and George and others use those words as much to their advantage as any other part of their routine. They are word-smiths.
