I agree to an extent with Mr. Davidoff, especially in regards to getting Posada taken care of now by not putting off surgery any longer. However, if the Yankees want to seriously make a push they will need a more reliable righthanded bat in the lineup. If they felt Sexson was the answer in that regard, he'd be doing more than filling a defensive replacement role on the team right now. The Yankees are going to need a lefthanded reliever... Marte or Ohman would be great, but I'd settle for Arthur Rhodes if they make the bigger deal for Washburn (or Bedard). Another idea could be Greinke and Mahay from the Royals. Either way, I feel the Yanks need a righty bat to balance their offense... I'd have no issue with them dealing away Betemit, either. Heck, I'd take Loretta for him!

Just sign Bonds. It will only cost us money. And Posada should have the surgery now so he is ready tio open up the new Yankee Stadium.

I like the idea of finding the answers within the organization....I know Hughes and Kennedy flopped this year however, they showed something last year and they are so young...some of the other young pitchers are doing well out in the bullpen (Veras, Sanchez, Robertson)....you have to stick with the plan and show some patience...if it means a step back in 2008 for many steps forward in 2009 and beyond, I'm all for it....I agree with Cashman building the farm system and spending on the scouting system; provides leverage in trades....this was how the dynasty was built in the early Showalter days.

Yeah, bring back Bernie because we don't have enough players hitting .200 and stealing their paychecks. On the off-chance he makes contact with the ball, he'll hit a seeing-eye-single or a squibber down the line and fail to run out of the box.

More than likely, he'll be another DP hitting or strikeout machine like Gardner, Cabrera, Betemit, and nowadays JETER.

You're kidding, right? Bernie Williams, a player who basically stole his paycheck the last five years of his career.

A guy who couldn't run the bases, failed to advance a base as a runner, couldn't steal a base, couldn't throw, often missed the cut-off man or threw to the wrong base. A guy who couldn't get himself to a WS game on time (see '01 WS against AZ).

Bernie Williams, huh? But hey, thanks for the morning laugh!!!

lets not pull another Yogi here and wait several decades for his return. Bernie Williams is my all-time favotie player, along with Donnie Baseball. his number should be retired and the Yankees need to show him respect liked he showed the game of baseball every day of his entire career.

As long as he doesn't mean play Bernie. I love Bernie, but Donnie Baseball is easily my all time favorite Yankee. It's too bad he played on team with Andy Hawkins as their best starter.

yea Donnie got screwed with the **** teams they put together for him his entire career in New York. He also got screwed big time by the strike in 94' because the yankees were the favorites to make it to the world series, most likely against the expos(with pedro). would have been a great series. I hope Donnie comes back to manage the Yanks at some point, but i have to admit Joe number 2 is doin a solid job.

I too am a huge bernie fan and I would have loved him back on the team, but not now-not anymore. Like the others here I was also a huge Donnie baseball fan before Bernie. For Manolo in Dallas who was bashing Bernie I say back off". He did not "steal" his checks. He worked hard for the Yankee teams he played for, he just declined. The guy worked his butt off in spring training every year. He desrved a better send off and the Yanks will retire #51 some day.

Sanchez is still re-habbing...not sure how close he is to being of any help, but he is a huge guy who through the Tigers info is supposed to be a major fast ball pitcher. he is being mentioned as trade bait though.

As for Sexon, i do not think he is the answer here...although bonds is interesting with that short porch I do not like him, his baggage or the chemistry killing machine he would be, but his bat would be the answer though.

I love the youth movement and say to Cashman, who I have met several times here in Tampa STAY THAT COURSE. The yankees have a great farm system and have what we need on the big club in our view.

Jorge...I believe he needs to shut it down now. Save himself from missing next year. I am a bit upset at how he last week was complaining about not catc hing more often, with that shoulder i do not blame Girardi. I feel like he was being selfish to complain as he did knowing he was a liability behind the plate.

I live here in Tampa after moving form NY and have had my run ins with a lot of the players and even Hank, Hal and Felix and they all have been really working on this team. As they meet today here I only hope the right choices will be made.

by the way, to the dude bashing bernie from Dallas.

1. the writer didnt mean bring Bernie back to play you idiot, he meant bring him back as a presence in the stadium, much like yogi, goose, tino and o'neil.

2. saying Bernie stole his last 5 paychecks just shows how little you know about baseball, let alone the yankees. he was one of the most solid hitters the yankees had over that stretch, and revived the yankees line-up in his last year despite shoulder problems. yes, everybody knows he doesnt have a good arm, so im happy to see that you watched espn at some point over the course of the last decade and picked up on that. his contributions to the yankees over his last 5 years were invaluable.

You are 100% correct EnterSandman...100% correct.

By the way, I liked Torree but for several years tired of his managerial decisions. At this point in the season with Girardi I think he nis doing a great job. I only wish he would have Gardner bunt more. with his speed he is more of an asset on the base paths and if anything he may be able to either beat out a bunt of create a rushed throwing error. That aside I have no other complaints on Girardi.

Retire another number... the Yankees don't have enough numbers retired yet. I want O'Neil's number retired as well.

I love these media types and their free advice. Wonder why they never became General Managers, they seem to know so much more than the people running the teams.

Great last item about negotiating a peace deal with Bernie. Bernie was the guy through thick and thin that deserves better treatment than what he has received lately. One of the most peaceful and graceful Men to ever play Center Field in pinstripes and he deserves better.
