NYPD faulted over incident involving black chief

If a black man reaches for his waist it is assumed he is going for a gun. It Could'nt be he is going for his identification. The father has the nerve to blame the police chief for this incident. No, he should blame himself for teaching those biases to his children.

I believe he was parked by a hydrant. He's lucky to be alive. Police have a very stressful job and some can't handle it. We need to follow all laws to avoid any confrontations with police. That's being a good citizen and not a trouble maker like the chief. It's societies fault for making excuses for people bent on breaks laws all the time. You have to be treated equally. Start behaving properly and not like animals.

If he was off duty, why was he driving a city leased car to do personal errands?
why are tax payers paying this.

Hi Mike! How was the weekend? Do anything interestting? I got most of my planting done, nice sunny day for it.

As far as running his plate, it was a rental ,like most unmarked cars the NYPD opeartes. Running the plate simply shows the rental company,(despite what most think about big brother knowing everything...)

If you knew anything about the biases that was taught to mike you would know that his girlfriend of 2 years is BLACK. those were some great biases that his father taught him. know the facts before you rush to judgement.

The article says that mainly Blacks or Hispanics are stopped or questioned. Well, Without knowing further details of the demographic of the area that is being patrolled it may be a primarily black community. So it would make sense that if there are 10 to 1 blacks than Yeah they may be the majority that are stopped or questioned.

Of course the correct thing for the 2 cops to do would be to ignore the suv blocking the hydrant.

First of all the moron was brekaing the law sitting at a fire hydrant # 1, his windows were probably illegally tinted, and # 3 he acted like a complete buffoon by not obeying the command of an acting officer. If Chief Buffoon was in that situation would he choose to follow procedure? What did he expect, a high-five from the officer? Anyone can impersonate an officer. He should be thankful that the cops were doing their duties that they spent months int he police academy for. Were his feelings hurt? His pride? Maybe Chief Moron is above the law is that it? He is the one being racially divisive. What an idiot. Betetr safe than sorry. Why not ask Russell Timoshenko what he thinks about this? Well you can't because he was shot dead by thugs in a tinted window SUV. Do you think officers have ANY reason to be cautious and or suspicious? Zeigler has headed the Community Affairs Bureau since January 2006. His wife, Neldra Zeigler, is the NYPD's deputy commissioner for equal employment opportunity.
Zeigler also had a gun pulled on him in 2006 when a State Department agent at first didn't believe his ID at a fund-raiser at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel. Federal supervisors later apologized.

I question why they didn't ticket Zeigler...inquire about improper use of NYPD equipment....and which one of the tards tried opening the car door without permission or probable cause?

I know what is going on. Some black officers are intentionally breaking the vehicle/traffic laws. They are taking note on how white police officers are treating them.. The black officers are trying to "hook" the uniformed officers by intentionally being beligerent. I guess they are gathering info to maker some kind of lawsuit. I hear that some of these black officers don't even identify themselfs or even have thier police ID with them when engaged by Uniform officers. It has happened already in Jamaica Queens by an off duty NCPD officer. You know who you are and you should be ashamed of yourself.

They had a right to NOT ASK FOR CONSENT, but just ATTEMPT TO ENTER HIS VEHICLE, without suspicion or a warning?

I have just heard that this "incident" may have been caught on camera! I'll bet anything we will never hear or see a thing about this incident again.

You have stuck to your normal MO (playing loose with the facts again).

By most news accounts, the story is still hazy, but according to a very god source, it was when the officer saw a weapon that he called out "gun" to his partner who opened the door. In your address above it looks like they simply walked up and tried yanking him out of the car. One report had the officers trying to pull him out of the car after he identified himself. I find that very hard to believe.

I am going to take a wild guess here. The chief was off duty in a department car, probably hesitated when asked what he was doing there and who he was,(realizing he was in a department auto, thought maybe they will tell him to pull off and that would be the end of it). The officer probably started asking some more questions and saw the gun. That is when the chief identified himself and it ended there. He never reported it because he was using a department car.

Now that it blew up, it was a racial confrontation, why? Well then the big chief may have some explaining to do if the cops did nothing wrong.

Years ago some Queens cops pulled over (then Chief of the Department) David Scott, they were extremely unprofessional and even called him "Homey". The Chief simply took the ticket, went to the local preceinct and had the cops called in. Needless to say, their careers were justly ended, not fired but ended.

If Zeigler were white, then as soon as the badge came out, this incident would have been over, with no dopey cop trying to force his way into Zeigler's car.

Hurt feelings, try unequal enforcement of the law. These cops thought he NOT ONLY HAD A FAKE COP BADGE, FAKE ID and was committing the act of impersonating an officer..instead of believing a black man could out-rank them?

Again, had Whitey McWhiteman, been in the SUV, and showed his tin badge and said "I'm one of you guys", they would have laughed at it and gone about their buisness. HEre, you have the Top Uniformed Black cop....and EVEN AFTER ESTABLISHING HIS IDENTIFICATION, a dopey cop attempts to force a search of the car.

While I agree, no headlines had this been a white guy, I believe our reasons differ.

Let's face it, the 2 cops probably didn't speak english because the NYPD can't hire anyone anymore. The city is in for a rude awakening now that all of the real cops are going to other jobs or retiring. I wanted to puke when I heard the NYPD patrol guide is available in 20+ languages. It should be in ENGLISH. The Chief should be happy these 2 weren't robbing a bank, running guns, or dealing heroin like some other recently hire morons were doing. They were proactive, and get screwed. The mayor and his $25,100 salary destroyed the JOB, one that many people used to be proud of. Steve Worth and the other PBA attorney's should have a field day with this one.

Blah, blah, blah....when a dopey cop tries to Stop and Frisk the highest Ranked Uniformed Black man....even then, you say "oh well".

I have been with an plain clothes, standing outside smoking a butt, when while he was stretching, apparently his gun was visible. In about 2 minutes, as a Uniformed Patrol notices, we were surrounded by 3 more plain clothes, who abrubtly pulled their guns and told us to freeze. I was reaching for the sky, while this guy said clearly and slowly, "I am on the job and reaching for my badge AROUND MY NECK". 10 seconds later, they finally say to me "Put your hands down" and get a good chuckle out of the incident.

I wonder what would have happened had the plainclothed been a dark skinned officer..........

Point is, I have seen how it usually goes. Once the ID is established, friendly banter, and everyone goes on with their lives.

Here, it seems even after ID established, some dope wanted to push the issue. Either way, hopefully this will bring the needed attention to faulty NYPD procedures.
