I vote no. You're not guaranteed a happy and fulfilling life while you're in prison for murder.

Hmm, get a sex-change operation at taxpayer expense and then get transferred to a prison for women.

Maybe there is a method in his/her madness.

Only 20 large for a sex-change operation? Forget the lawsuit, just start a web site begging for the money. You'll get it before the year is up.

Having paid for my own surgery on my own,I can understand why people would be upset for a couple of reasons.

1-People are not supposed to be rewarded for doing a crime.

2-The taxpayer should not have to foot the bill.

From my point of view this is not good publicity for the trans community of whom the overwhelming majority are law abiding, productive members of society.

It's obvious that you shouldn't spend 52K to avoid a 20K expense, but this is an sign that our society is doomed. This 'case' shouldn't have gotten beyond the guard at the jail laughing when the prisioner asked. It should never have become anything more than an inside joke at the prison.
If the libtards force this 'operation', the answer is also simple; botch the surgery and bury this loser.

This guy is getting a sex-change operation worth $20,000; the death row inmate in Oklahoma, with terminal cancer, got radiation AND chemotherapy treatment; Martha Stewart got a TV show and Paris Hilton is doing "Larry King, Live," tomorrow night. Right after I post, this, I'm going out to rob a bank!

This is crazy that criminals could possibly get to spend money the law-abiding public can't afford. What if this goes through? Billions for new sex type jail?

In all likelihood this request is in hopes that she will be moved from a place where she may be in danger (mens prison) to a place where she is safer(womens prison).

This is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard! I cannot believe they are even considering giving this CONVICTED KILLER a sex change!! It's pathetic that the American liberals think that this man (woman - whatever it is) should be entitled to anything! The only thing that the US government should be giving this person is food, shelter and a good lesson that needs to be learned (i.e. Thou shalt not murder). Anyway, this should be an open and closed case. If this guy gets his surgery there will be other sickos in prison asking for the same service. It disgusts me!!

(Also, lazar hair removal is NOT a mandatory procedure that INMATES should have access to! It is expensive and definitely NOT a necessity!!! Lazar hair removal is an elective COSMETIC procedure that insurance companies DO NOT COVER, so why should prisoners be eligible for this treatment FOR FREE?..or should I say at the expense of TAXPAYERS?!?)

They've already spent $52,000 on experts for the trial. Let's see that would have bought 2 and 1/2(give or take a little) sex changes. Useless bureaucracy.

Let's see law-abiding citizens have to pay for it themselves. But if you're crooked enuff to go to jail--the TAXPAYERS have to pay for it??!! Ree-diculous!!

About the only person these days who thinks jail is a bum trip is Paris Hilton. Wait a minute--it cost $1000 a day to keep her in jail! Another taxpayer ripoff!!
