Sounds like Carrano was bird-dogging this Gjeli chick and showed up a the right time.

I love reading stories like this where the bad guy ends up in the morgue.

Kudos to Det. Carrano.

A commendation would be great, but I don't know about the plague part!! A plaque might be better ...

Sounds like a suspense-thriller movie. That woman is truly fortunate, blessed to have been rescued. I hope she is wiser about boy friend choices in the future. Violent people meeting with violent ends even a tiny child understands the justice in this.

In michael's defense he actually posted on another board that this is a perfect example of a justified shooting- even called the cop a hero

I'm surprised. I thought he would have said he should have tried to subdue them without using deadly force.

From the other thread: I posted "Can we PLEASE PROMOTE THIS HERO?

I am so happy to see, for the second time in as many weeks, the NYPD shooting ARMED PEOPLE, actually SAVING LIVES, instead of taking them."

I added some stuff about having them teach newbies about when to deploy deadly force, and inquired about possibly going a whole year without shooting some poor, unarmed black youth.....gotta a rep to keep up ya know...HA HA HA.

As stated numerous times before, I simply call them like I see them. This is about the 5th or 6th time I have thanked and lauded a cop for protecting the citizenry. Of course, I and I bet he, wishes he never had to take a life, but this is why we should up the bar in LE requirements, in my opinion.

Too bad NYPD can't hire perfect people like you think you are.

Again, not expecting a perfect world or perfect people. Just people who respect life enough to save deadly physical force for when they know they have to use it, not for when they "THINK" they have to use it.

Someone brought up a good point...I wonder exactly when this guy's separation began...probably the day after this lady reported her Domestic incident, I'll bet. Hmmm, to me, an acceptance of adultery, could be a sign one should not be a cop, but that's me.

Too many great officers who've only fired on armed people, for you fellators to argue "does he have to see the glint of steel before he can fire".....it's the same thing that keeps a good officer from asking the perp to drop the weapon numerous times before firing, and a bad cop from shooting a perp before confirming there even is a weapon.

I know...logic and common sense, hence, the NYPD won't do it.
