The upper lot is "hardly used on weekdays"? Maybe during the day, but I suggest our esteemed First Selectman visit the lot on evenings when youth softball and baseball are going on. Where are they going to park? Commuters are not going to clear out until 6:30 or 7 PM.
Also is a bus then going to have to back out onto Rte 39, since there's no place for a bus to turn around in that lot?
It's a good idea, but let's think it through.

It's a great idea. I don't know all the logistics but let's make it work. What a wonderful savings for commuters!

Actually ,in addition to the Town Hall parking there are two parking lots located "above" Memorial Field .Out of the two "upper" lots ,the MTA is looking to use the uppermost of the two .This lot is not used ,even during the week and the MTA does not have a problem with use after 4PM if the lot is not full.

Yet another moment when John Hodge doesn't think about local goings on. T-Ball season is in full swing, and there have been times when there aren't even enough fields available due to over-booking. Where are the kids and parents supposed to park when the lot is loaded with commuters? Not to mention the congestion issue it's going to bring to the ONE ROAD going from Gilotti Rd. in to town. Thoughtless.

Thoughtless. I have been down on the fields for the past two years and I can not figure out what you are saying.Even with both fields in use ,the upper lot is always empty and since they are proposing a parking lot for only 40 cars what are you talking about as far as congestion? And why would all of the cars be coming from Gilotti ? You clearly have another agenda and it has nothing to do with the parking lot. This lot will save residents money by decreasing their fuel use and by not having to pay for parking. I support it and can't wait until the service starts.

You can't get 20 cars in that upper lot using both levels. I suggest you go when there are games going on on both fields. Plus if you want to get a bus in there, how is it going to get out? I'm all for the idea, but the parking lot location should be thought out a little more.

Actually you can get 20 or more cars in the lower part of the parking lot overlooking Memorial Field alone. I believe the proposal is to use the uppermost parking lot (the lot overlooking Memorial Field has two tiers)and expand and construct it so that it can hold 40 cars while leaving the lower tier for those who are using Memorial Field. As far as the buses ,they are the smaller 21 seat commuter buses and they would be able to swing in and out of the expanded lot easily.
