Damn,why can't remain Industrial? That name is historical in the Dallas area.It will always be Industrial.

I have to agree that the name should remain the same. What a completely waste of tax money to change everything and also a waste of anybody with property or a business on industrial that has to purchase new checks, stationary, labels, etc.
|
||||
I agree,the city should concentrate on fixing the bad streets,enforceing animal control,litter in our neighborhoods,,and on and on and on |

C Martinez and TimE. The answer to your questions (DALLAS CITY COUNCIL) need I say any more?
|

I think the name change was stupid in the 1st place, but if they HAD to change it, could'nt it have been something a little better. Heck, I wish they had gone with Stevie Ray Vaughn Blvd. Something with meaning, or someone who did something.

I agree, what was with the name in the first place. I think the City of Dallas should concentrate on fixing the area. What really floors me, they actually created a committee for this. What a waste of tax payor money.

This is not a done deal yet. We have the circus of the Dallas City Council. JWP will find a way to make it a race issue. What an idiot!
Thank God for Fort Worth!!! |

|

i fired off a letter to the city...maybe if everyone else does too maybe these idiots will do something more constructive with our money, like fix the roads, fight illegals, fix the streets, SOMETHING besides sitting around figuring out how to waste more money!

Why do we have to change either street name to Cesar Chavez (half the population including Hispanics) do not even know who he was or what he represented!!! As many new streets and the growth in Dallas that is taking place, why can't one of the NEW streets be named Cesar Chavez if it's so important!!!!
|
||||
There's incompetence and lack of concern for the common man everywhere. On a scale of 1 to 100, how well do the following serve us, the people: Dallas City Council (10) Dallas County Commissioners (8) Gov. Rick Perry (12) US Congress (5) George Bush (65) They are ALL failing us miserably!!!! It's extremely depressing. |

Just read some of the comments left on the petition asking the City of Dallas to honor hometown boy Stevie Ray Vaughan by naming a street in his honor.
Stevie was an ambassador representing the best of Dallas to the world. Perhaps when we as a whole recognize and act on the need to honor our own, then we would be more receptive to honor an non-Dallas, non-Texan, political activist. Let Dallas know that we are ready to honor the legend that was born, raised and has his final resting place here. Stevie Ray Vaughan is our pride and joy. http://www.petitiononline.com/srv/petition.ht... |

Why change the name? Leave it as is.
|

Why the hell did you take a poll if you want to name it what you want anyway? Leave it alone as intdustrial...I hope you're paying for all the businesses to change their signs, letterheads, etc. ROSS AVE? who the hell aimed everything at ROSS.. what did we do? Fine.. hmm I pick GREENVILLE AVE.. Let's call it NINOY AQUINO BLVD.. to celebrate all the Filipinos that support the USA and run 90% of the medical facilities in this nation. They named an airport after him.. why not a street/ Who is he? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benigno_Aquino,_... .

Their taking over the country anyway. Let's just name all the streets after them! I'm so sick of looking at them, hearing their language, watching and hearing their kids run around, screaming and tearing things up in stores. The moms with their many many kids and pregnant again. They make me sick!

The street was originally named for a practical reason: to reflect the environment of the surrounding area. Keeping with that, if the name is changed it should STILL reflect the nature of the surrounding area. If a street is to be named Cesar Chavez, do it south of the Trinity where no one would care.

this is so stupid...Chavez never did anything in the US. If they want to name every street in Mexico Chavez...I'll support that...but just because a bunch of illegal hispanics want to add more of Mexico to Texas (ie...dirty streets, run down houses, crime) I say NO and the jelly fish of a council should just say NO also.

I sure wish these leaders would spend more energy on the urban blight, despair and hopelessness that align these streets, than the name of them. It would not matter if the streets are renamed "Million Dollar Platinum Diamond Way" as long as the conditions remain as they are. I would feel no honor knowing a street is named after me given the conditions of many of them. A good example would be "Martin Luther King Blvd" in Dallas. I don't think King would be too proud of what has become of his namesake. So I say to the leaders, get busy improving these areas and devote less time to the name.
