Ok, lets say for arguments sake the brakes did fail.
The speed limit is 40mph, your brakes fail... your foot is off the gas... you will slow down.

Look at the damage that occured... no way this was caused by a vehicle going 40mph.(or less)

Crash test on similar vehicles will show that Mr Jones was exceeding the speed limit.

Cars rented from New Orleans come from all over the country. Who knows how they're driven and the maintenance. I challenge you to do something different coming up to an intersection with no brakes. He didn't go through the intersection, he swerved and hit a fire hydrant to avoid more damage. I suspect he sped up to try to dart through the intersection but with traffic and no brakes, had to come up with a last minute solution, which turned out tragic. It just doesn't make sense.

He can't escape, he's in a wheelchair and disabled.....funny how the media doesn't tell that part! He's a spinal cord patient and is under dependent care. He'll be in a nursing home the rest of his life regretting his actions and praying for forgiveness.
