Nice to see you back, too! Just ignore that poster and try to sift through as best you can.

I take my son off his night meds during school vacations and summer, to see if he can learn yet to fall asleep or know he's tired. So far, it's a no go. We started a new med this past spring, although I have not seen too mauch change, my son has become incredibly verbally funny. The idea was to help anxieties and help to be more expressive.
I hope it continues to go well for your son.

I live in MN too, no relation to Tomer and I live far north. We're about to get socked with a bunch of snow :) so I agree, warm wishes were needed!

It’s been a while since I posted here, just because I seem to go into YOGI overload! It’s hard to sift through the BS I do not care to read or respond to because it always goes back to the same thing HER!
My son also had sleep apnea as an infant. He was hooked up to a monitor for his breathing and heart beat until he was about a year old.
During this time is when he would gasp for air and start seizing, knock on wood It really was no longer an issue after he was about a year and a half. When he was 3 he went to an early learning center to be tested and found him to be quite far behind compared to other 3 year olds. At the time they told me a lot of this could have been contributed to his lack of oxygen during the time the sleep apnea would happen.
He was not diagnosed with Autism until 2005. It wasn’t even until I came on this sight and found this thread that I even thought that the two could be connected.
Its just unfortunate that Yogi has made this so much about her, that the advice or information some people may seek gets lost in her rants.
On another note with the support of my sons doctors I have decided to take him off meds. It has been so long that he has been on them that I want to see how he does off. Initially when he first went on them I had a long term approach set in my mind with a combination of meds and therapy and a good structural environment at home. We began weaning him off about 3 weeks ago, it has been about 1 week and half since he has not taking anything except his vitamins.
He seems to be doing really good; as long as the structure is there I am really surprised how well he is doing.
I am just afraid that if he has such a hard time in school with out them and I have to put him back on (hopefully not) what type of an effect that will have on him.
Bottom line I want to do what’s best for him. Any of you been through something similar or know someone who has been through something similar?
Hope everyone is staying warm and enjoying the holiday season!

No, it is you who are two-faced and mean. All your words describing yourself and your inner feelings about the negative manner in which you regard people with autism. Did you ever consider you are not cut out for this line of working with people with autism? I have seen many who are far more compassionate and helpful and nice to people with autism including myself. You are pathetic, and very very sad. I hope you are not parading around your autism-negative attitude under a license you use to diagnose or treat them.
the only person around here who is pathetic, is the spewer of tripe because you just can't handle the fact that other ppl way worse off than you have made successes of themselves while all you do is call them fake, b!tch and whine and holler for attention. poor little thing.

hi chastity! nice to meet you! there are a number of ppl going through what you go through. meds work for some individuals with autism, and others can do without - it depends on the individual. just keep in real close contact with the school and get good feedback from the teachers and aides.

one of my friend's son has just turned 3 with autism. he has just been funded for aid. right now he is not on meds, they are seeing how he develops following similar routine systems etc a syou are trying. she is aware of the fact, that when he is in school on a 5 day week schedule later, that meds is a possibility they might have to try int he future. her saving grace is tat this child is getting intervention now, and is being worked with, and she is getting overwhelming support.

another kid in my house with autism has unfortunately just had to have his meds upped. his adhd just goes into overdrive without it, and as he gets older, his adhd seems to be increasing. he's doing great at school on these new dosages.

my other is waiting to be diagnosed and am going through the process as we speak - in this child's case, i do not believe meds to be necessary, as this child responds excellently to fixed routines, is excellent academically and is learning to self monitor when socializing or in group settings, which is his challenge and downfall. i am hoping he will be able to cope in school by teenage years without an aide.

both of these children have different sleep issues, and both need slightly different bedtime routines, but routines structured individually they understand nontheless.

you are NOT alone.

No, if anything is "fake," it is your masquerading around the blogosphere as an anonyous fraud "objective" when you are as biased and prejudiced as they come. It is also worrisome that you seem to go for little children with autism and have deep-seated bias, prejudice, and hostility toward adults with autism. You have not said anything since you arrived on this thread remotely interesting about autism or living with autism throughout a lifetime. Sad. Just another bunch of mediocre blah blah blah whine, when so much fascinating research is being done these days about autism. Just wait until they take apart and understand the prodigious savant mind.
Of course then the parade of pharmaceuticals will begin, lots of $$$ in it, aiming to give each NT a little bit of savant enhancement they didn't have before. I can just see it now, like the cheaters who use Adderall and Ritalin for performance enhancement on their licensure exams, will next be taking "savant memory boost enhancement" pharmaceuticals, notwithstanding if it should be off-label or even for so-called 'healthy NTs.' With savant enhancement and Viagra, how can an NT go wrong? Think-a-little here, live-a-little there, and viola!
Shangra La!! What NT would ever again desire the Garden of Eden?
yups - just like i said - jealousy. these kids sure show you up, eh! figure out the difference between winners and losers and maybe - just maybe - that "savant" light bulb will click on for you. now go bore someone else - i have better things to do than respond to your cr@p anymore.

They might be linked as who knows? I think that will do little to help this situation besides big pharmacy gathering up the opportunity for some false hope drug when eating properly does not receive enough attention. Don't let kids drink any sodas. Either thimerosol, a mercury vaccine additive or aspartame, a mainstream soft drink/ yogurt additive may be responsible for autism.

http://www.rense.com/general59/vvac.htm

The damage can be done by those from drinking on the womb effects if coffee can damage the heart which new studies prove coffee does harm on hearts.

Drinking coffee during pregnancy damages your child's heart
Intake of even a low dose of caffeine in pregnancy may damage the heart of offspring for a lifetime, according to a new study published in the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology journal (FASEB). Dec 16, 2008

Not to mention the "frog disrupter" chemical triclosan messing with the kids and gender bending them around ( not that there's anything wrong with children's gender preference but that chemical hinders the gonads from forming on males).

Who cares about all your trivia? The only thing that matters is you are probably such an ugly troll, the ugliests of the ugliest, that mortal humans should be spared having to set eyes on you lest they turn to stone. Yuck! Bleah!!
All your other allegations are rejected as false. Your statements are false and libelous. You have a seriously inflated ego, as well as the ridiculous notion that someone who has not even been on blog for a couple days because the person has other work to do is a problem for you -- maybe because you came rushing to post your bait, only to find I was not here? The only bother you have it in putting up with yourself -- Oh, the bother..
You are an anonymous fraud, and a pathological liar. As well as a wackjob nutcase. Were you able to fill out that Obama Administration employment form yet without violating the false statements on a federal form rule about your anonymous blog IDs? You are really losing your marbles. At least that what I "see," but then again I can't see, and that is one of my problems.
The only seriously inflated ego anywhere on Topix is Yogi's. Whine, whine, whine...oh yes...and threaten to sue. Her posts get deleted off of other blogs because she's so obnoxious and self serving it doesn't seem to take too long for everyone to figure her gig out. Hopefully one day soon Topix will disable her ability to post here. Oh, and Yogi...regarding the videos of you and your horse that you posted on Youtube...you don't appear to have any food aversions to me. You look as though you have a darn good appetite. Darn good!

If you are an adult with autism, please let me know.

As you probably know, I am a film director gearing up for my next feature which deals with adult autism. I have chosen a woman who has autism to play one of the key leading roles in the film. Needless to say, many different opinions floating around as a result.

The "RETURN TO AUTISM" series is an attempt to dig into those important questions. The more positive responses and rankings posted, the more likely producers in Hollywood will realize the importance of the film...so...thank you, thank you,, thank you for posting a comment, and I hope you can pass the information along to others who might be as kind.

I will keep in touch with you, and be sure to let you know the progress and details of the opening week.

My son Daniel who has Autism also has sleep apnea or should I say had sleep apnea. He has had his tonsils and adnoids taken out. He is sleeping much better (although he his still up with the sun). I have noticed a lot fewer tantrums and breakdowns. I truly believe there is a link. Then again if you look at the symptoms of untreated sleep apnea and ASD A LOT of the symptoms are the same. I started to wonder if there are a some sleep apnea cases out there that are mistaken fod ASD?? Just a thought...
