Spartan you sound a little too bitter and seem to be making this a personal attack... did you apply to work with the 'idiot' Chief and were turned away because you were possibly crooked yourself? If the K-9 handler that left were all that, where is he/she? The real K-9 handler and obviously very qualified K-9 are still employed and obviously doing a fantastic job...seems you are the idiot. Are you hating because you haven't made a bust to that caliber? I'm sure you are a bigger man/woman than to bring personal attacks because of your own insecurities. I hope that NCPD continues to do what they trained to do...bring your butt to NC with some drugs and see how that idiot K-9 handles you. I don't know the Chief but to put such a cowardly post, shows that you are the real idiot. Breath, let it go and move on...if you want to be the police, keep trying and someone will give you a chance. If you are already the police, Lord help us if this is how you speak of your 'brother's in blue. Wouldn't want you to have to back me up...

There's no credit to give here! To judge the work of these police officers or the K-9 based on a case like this? The guy hit another car and when the police responded, they were presented with duffel bags full of marijuana.

What incredible police work

Little spartan, little spartan...what kind of nonsense are you writing? Were you apart of the nice work that was done in NC or is that your problem? This isn't high school, this is grown folks business...NCPD followed the book, did what they were supposed to and got what they got. Where is the creme de le K9 that left NCPD? Who is it? What's his/her name? What is the great things he did? It wasn't the one that helped that fine officer who initially thought there was a problem with the bags is it? Nope. Was it the female that was on the scene that the news showed? Nope...where was he/she?

The 'idiot' Chief must be bright to have a K9 unit that is still in action...To voice of reason...why not be the silent type because your voice was nonsensical. And to little Spartan...don't be such an angry man/woman. Woo saaa!

Well you are listed in Jessup, Md. Crook or Cop, for you its the same. Did your wife catch you, again or are you going to take her to a game also.

Snuggles, it's great to get drugs off the streets, but to characterize anyone who 'loses focus' of this as a "criminal mind" is ignorant.
How many cops does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
I don't know the answer but it takes 12 (twelve!) to arrest a 72 year old man with a trunk full of pot.
As a citizen and taxpayer, this is supposed to make me feel proud/satisfied with the work our police force does? That it took 12 cops and a last second hunch to bust one guy carrying DUFFEL BAGS full of pot?
Forgive my criminal mind ...
hey idiot, the department has 12 people on it, that doesn't mean all 12 were there.

I agree w/ SLW16 - poor job of disguising yourself there Scott. Tsk, Tsk - Might want to considering using an alias that you don't use on your myspace page before you go bashing your former employer. You remember him? The one who was kind enough to give YOU a job and the "real k9 handler" (as you called him) a job when you both quit MPD.

Great job! KUDOS, KUDOS, KUDOS to NCPD!

great job to officers involved in seizure....kudos to the arresting officer for doing his/ her job...i think that all the stuff going back and forth is nonsense...hats off to the arresting officer...he/she should be receiving the accolades and should be nominated for cop of year or even a promotion...everyone is entitled to their opinions and statements but i think some of these comments are off target and should remain unknown....the target should be toward congratulating the officer....he/ she is the one that probably had to do all the paperwork....the one that is going to have to go to court....and probably the one that must feel under appreciated whether he/she wants to admit or not...the bickering that seems to be going back and forth is personal....it should be left off this blog...the officer is a representative of the police dept...just like every major police dept., the dept. is glamorized for making the bust and the officer is ..well, just DOING HIS/HER JOB....and is forgotten...hope this doesn't happen...
on another note....there were some personal jabs thrown....don't know the drama and the soap opera that is developing with the blog...to all that have made comments on this blog...let it go...if you wear blue, stay true....know matter how personal, remember the important things...family...FAMILY...FAM ILY...
if you are the police, you're never given the guarantee of going home to your loved ones....all this other stuff is irrelevant...if you are blue and reading this, i urge and hope that you understand....we do the same job...same risks...we are different people with different personalities...don't disrespect the job that we do...it's a job of challenges, let downs, and a job that we all love to do...it's next to impossible to ask all of you that read this blog to be on board with this...but let it go and stay true to being a brother or sister in blue...again, congrats to the arresting officer...NCPD good job in hiring that officer...give credit where credit is due...

While this is a good find, there were no skills used to make the discovery. Simply Coincidence.
Although pot is a drug, as a taxpayer I'd appreciate a bust of a drug that actually kills people.
There are no reported deaths caused by Marijuana, and there are over 100,000 people in jail for possesion of marijuana ALONE. Yet we still have murderers and rapists out on the street.
SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE.

Go hug a tree! Coincidence - yeah coincidence the old man stopped in New Carrollton, coincidence that the old man hit a parked car, coincidence that the officer was there, coincidence that the driver was having his car impounded, coincidence that he had a car full of pot. Isn't that what police work is all about COINCIDENCE! JERK!

Citizen Kane...or should I say "Rosebud", a long, over-due reply...and it'll be over several postings...

Posting #1:
While I'm a bit exhausted from having to wade thru all the ‘he/she’ politically correct nonsense, I can appreciate the sentiment behind your posting. However, you do sound a bit confused on the subject. You see that’s where this whole thing got started. People WERE giving credit where credit was due…congratulating the arresting officer for HIS efforts, to the K-9 officer for HIS efforts (and to his partner, of course) as well as congratulating the New Carrollton Police Department the agency employing those brothers and sisters in blue.

You're correct – a job well done by the officer(s) who is “well,...just doing HIS job”. That’s just what HE was doing, HIS job…it’s called police work. Those of you putting on a uniform everyday already know it, but oftentimes ‘just doing your job’, involves a great deal of luck…and then it doesn’t hurt to have a smart and well-trained officer, who’s usually given that training by the agency employing them, to capitalize on that ‘luck’ that results in outstanding police work. Please, don’t be a hater! Sorry, it’s just the nature of luck and how the game is played. Your concern that the department the officer works for is somehow falsely ‘glamorized’ by the fantastic police work done here…well honey, that's life! I know it's difficult to digest when the liberal media has something good to say about a police officer and/or a police department, but I think it’s a breath of fresh air and I find comfort in the fact that the media probably had a harder time simply writing that kind of story in the first place. Every officer is used to the double standard AND the higher standards we as officers have to live by – both on and off duty. Unfortunately it’s usually a few bad apples that will spoil the bunch. So, for the first time in a long time there was something positive out there in the media about our brothers and sisters in blue...and as is typical, one of our brothers and sisters in blue (one of those bad apples) has to screw it up for the rest of us and sully the accomplishment with lies and innuendos like the ones Spartan posted. So much for getting to bask in the few moments of seeing of some positive press for a change, something about police officers doing great police work - even if it was only for a short newsbyte that'll soon be forgotten. But what isn't, and won't be forgotten (nor I dare say forgiven) are the nasty, hateful, uncalled for and unsubstantiated remarks by a very bitter brother in blue.

Posting #2 for "Citizen Kane":

(Continued from Posting #1...)
As a member of the blue family, I decided to do what some of our rank and file do best…I conducted an investigation to look into the source of the hateful comments and lies that were posted. Based on the information gathered during the course of the investigation, there is probable cause to believe that the identity of Spartan is who I stated he is and is therefore the source of what started this ‘drama’ and ‘soap opera’ in the first place. All these events occurred in....(sorry, couldn't resist adding that!) So please, enough of the ‘I don't know where all the drama and soap opera stuff is coming from’ Citizen Kane, because you know very well who he is. And to my surprise, during this investigation I learned that many, many others already knew too.

Of course family IS what's important. And maybe I've just been doing this job for too long or have seen too many things because to me, the word 'family' also encompasses my 'police family' too. Also, I have no idea what 'blue' cloud you're living on, but you might want to come down off your high horse before you go giving any more speeches where we need to hold hands and sing Kumbaya.
As for the Hallmark line 'If you wear blue, stay true'?? What is THAT? Hey, how about putting the sentiment into practice? Don't know about you, but when I see my fellow officers getting kicked below the belt, it doesn't matter who the aggressor is. You see that’s where your police family comes into play. But wait! Hold on a minute! A quandary exists in this case because not only are the victims ‘blue’, but the aggressor is ‘blue’ too. Where’d the blue cloud go where everyone calling themselves ‘blue’ was supposed to ‘be blue’ and ‘stay true’, or does that only apply when it’s convenient for the likes of Citizen Kane and Spartan? The bottom line is that it doesn’t matter if the aggressor is blue (or maybe it’s BECAUSE he IS blue), the gloves need to come off. And I say BRING IT ON!

Citizen Kane, I’ll leave you with this very obvious and profound observation and just another thing to strengthen my probable cause as to the identity of Spartan. Is it a coincidence that out of the 50+ postings on this story, you chose to address only those comments about Spartan that were made by the few of us in the know? I think not!
I believe you said the comments were ‘off target’. The comments made were no such thing. I believe that’s what they call a BULL'S-EYE!
