I can't believe they are going to start citing people for not shoveling two feet of snow that has now frozen solid, when they have not yet come close to plowing the streets yet. I am personally physically not able to shovel that amount of snow without risking back injury or a heart attack. I also have nowhere to put said snow except the street, which is a violation. Not one single person on my street has shoveled the entire sidewalk in front of their house. Just clearing a path to the street was difficult enough. It's ludicrous.

Tell the slacker on Lexington avenue right down from MJH to clear his sidewalk. Obviously not a house of elderly b/c the snow shovels were sticking out of the snow and the walk was cleared. Just to f'in lazy to shovel for the community well-being. LAME

Oh and hat's off to First Presbyterian Church, who obviously had the resources to hire snow blowers to clear the sidewalk as far as needed for a church attendance but failed to go father down Maple Street. Mighty Christian effort there. Calvin said we'd know the damned and the saved by how they shovel their public walkways.

Thank whoever that they are enforcing the sidewalk cleaning. I just drove from Alexandria and all roads were clear until we got to Charlottesville. Then it was all snow bumps and apparently no plowing. 29 was horrible, 250 bypass until we reached Albemarle on the way to Keswick one lane, ice, snow. I grew up in Wisconsin and in my entire experience I have never seen a worse attempt at snow removal as Charlottesville. Now, they will say they had no money, so more taxes and we will hire a snow plow or two. Obscene!

Cville also has the most cheap, idiots. People who think their car can handle the storm. People who don't want to pay taxes but wants government services

The individuals in charge of snow removal for Cville and Albemarle should be fired. All of the surrounding counties had their main roads clear as well as back roads. Yet when you showed up at the county line it was like flipping a switch; totally unacceptable! I live on a back road two counties away and by Sunday mid day it was better than US29. And to think they want to fine people for not clearing side walks. I'm sorry but there are 10 year olds out there that could do a better job supervising. And yes; it is the supervisors fault not the plow driver's.

How is it that Charlottesville wants you to shovel your sidewalk when the city plows the snow and pushes it all to the sidewalk area. I live on Rio Rd. come by and check out the sidewalk area. I walked to work in the road today. I don't believe its fair to issue a citation to the public for this. The city is making their problem our problem. So what happens when I shovel the snow back into the road?

Nice. The City can't get the streets cleared or trash picked up, but if a property owner doesn't clean off the CITY'S sidewalk, they get a ticket.

So who do I complain to if my neighbors, who park in front of my house, have dumped large amounts of snow on that sidewalk when digging out their cars? There is no way I'm clearing that huge pile of snow left by them.

Indeed. It took so long to get a plow down our road ( a very busy street, I might add). Our sidewalk was pristine until the city dumped large clumps of ice onto it. Now it is frozen and cannot budge.

Interesting since technically sidewalks are not the property of an individual, they are city right of way.
Shovel your own **** sidewalk, Norris!
