Do you think it is because it has become a tini bopper popularity contest instead of a talent contest. When Michale John was cut, I turned it off and will not watch again.

Really, should this be a surprise?? Since the whole Sanjaya thing last year do people really care? That kid should not have even made it to the top 24 let alone top 10. This year being hyped as the best season ever and we're losing people like Carly and Michael John??? The vote for the worst is killing the show and until you all look at this seriously and change the way people vote, it will continue to be a popularity sans talent competition. Who cares if Idol receives 36 million called when it's one teenage girl making 40-50 calls by herself??? It needs to be like Dancing with the Stars...one vote per contestant left - Top 5 - 5 votes per phone - period. Lets make this fair...until it changes, I'll only watch when there is nothing better to watch.

I agree about the voting rules. Popularity versus talent. It needs to be changed to limit the voting per person. The people who quit watching because their favorite gets sent home - goodbye. Just because they are favorite does not mean they are the best. I don't think that replacing a host will make any difference. Ryan Seacrest does a great job as host & I would hate to see that change.

Love the show, REALLY love Ryan Seacrest - he is a busy busy BUSY person. This article makes me think SOME people are jealous of his popularity and his talent/gift of gab! Whenever someone is doing a good/great job, someone who is NOT so worthy has to create problems, just for something to do. GO RYAN!! GO AMERICAN IDOL!!!!

Last week American Idol was seen by
38 million people. If this is the cause
of cancellation then every show
on TV is in dire starait.

Nothing lasts forever ... and this is not because of Ryan Seacrest. I think Ryan is an excellent host and he interacts well with the audience and the judges. But after a few years of "more of the same" people get tired.

I also think that "Dancing with the Stars" stole some of the "Idol" viewers. People want something new and different always so I predict that "Idol" will not be a top show in the near future.

Also "Dancing with the Stars" stole some of the "Idol" viewers since both come on at the same time.

I predict "Idol" will not be a top show in the future because it's now old stuff.

I will continue watching this year because of my time already invested but next year could be a different matter without some needed changes.

The **** with Randy Jackson has gone on too long. He is a self serving blow hard. If he is so talented why is he a judge on a reality show, go make music on your own randy or is your career over? maybe?
