Port Richmond was once a decent family-oriented neighborhood. But after the expansion of the Aramingo Avenue shopping corridor--Port Richmond has been inundiated with an underclass and violent thugs.

I got lost and ended up in the Port Richmond section a few years back. I was absolutely mortified. Shaking too bad to even stop and ask on how to get the heck outta there. That's some bad bad stuff right there, even in broad daylight.

You are either ignorant or delusional if you think people who live in Port Richmond are scared to leave their houses in broad daylight. Its a working class neighborhood of families with a relatively low crime rate.

There was a time when violent crime and murder rarely happened in Port Richmond. Now it's a common occurance. The police obviousely can not stop the killing and sensless violence in our once great city. It's time move to safer pastures. God bless us all.

Fortunately I don't think this counts as a murder because it was done with a knife and not with a gun.

So as long as no poor home-intruders were shot I'm happy.

I LIVE ON WESTMORELAND STREET 1 1/2 BLOCK FROM THIS TRAGEDY, I HAVE TO SAY THAT I AM SERIOUSLY ANNOYED ABOUT SOME OF THE BAD MOUTHING THAT THE IGNORANT COMMENTS OF THESE BLOGGERS, REMEMBER THE CLOSENESS OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD THAT CAME TO THE POLICE OFFICERS AID 2 MONTHS AGO, DO WE FORGET HOW THE NEIGHBORHOOD PULLED TOGETHER AND HONORED THE OFFICER AT HIS DEATH, WE THE NEIGHBORS OF PORT RICHMOND CANNOT HELP THE TRASH THAT MOVES INTO OUR NEIGHBORHOOD, I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THE PEOPLE AT THIS RESIDENCE JUST MOVED IN, I KNEW THE PEOPLE WHO JUST MOVED OUT AND I THINK IT IS UNFAIR TO JUDGE THE GREAT NEIGHBORHOOD OF PORT RICHMOND WHO TAKE PRIDE IN THEIR HOMES AND STAY TIGHT NIT AND CARE ABOUT EACH OTHER, WE CANNOT HELP WHO ENDS UP HERE AND TRAVELS THROUGH. I AM PROUD OF OUR NEIGHBORHOOD AND CAN HONOSTLY SAY I WILL BE HERE FOR A LONG TIME.

You are correct and it all started with the opening of Kmart. I lived in Port Richmond for 25 yrs. When Kmart opened all undesirables came in.
Aramingo was also the down fall of Kensington Ave.
