Home break in baffles candidate

Full story: Myrtle Beach Online

While no one agrees with everything a candidate for political office says, most people don't respond by making threatening phone calls or breaking into the candidate's house.

Finally..... A News story written by someone that actually knows how to craft one.
The story actually includes the who, what, where and when. No typos that I could find and it looks like the reporter actually did some work rather than just reading the PD press releases.
Give this girl a raise and let her teach the other reporters how to do it.
This one is a keeper......

Interesting take. It could be.

If it isn't though... Even if you don't like a candidate, this still shouldn't happen. It's a shame.

People need to realize that public service is a great personal sacrifice in more ways than one.
Those who speak out against (or for) an area that touches the lives egocentrics who dont caere about the community as a whole are at risk of being targets.

On a small scale, this is evidence of the depth to which single issue people will go to make sure their candidate is elected...not the guy who is trying to go against the current of political puppeteering.

Did he get the number off the cell phone, did he record any of the 19 minutes of phone conversation, has he contacted the cell phone provider for information on incoming calls to that evening? If he did none of these things, I smell a rat. Could very well be a publicity stunt.

For his sake I hope it is not a publicity stunt because it can be easily tracked by phone records.
I am not in his voting area but I hope he gets elected.

I think it's a sad state of affairs when a young man, especially in a time when most of our youth are so apathetic, takes a stand and all he gets is grief and mistrust. I personally know this young man and can honestly say he's integrious, hard working and very faith based in all he does. While in Columbia at the VFW State Convention, I received the panicked phone call at 11:30pm Saturday night about the phone calls, the signage loss as well as the break-in. It's totally not a publicity stunt.

And shame on y'all for thinking it was so. Go to the WPDE website and watch the 35 minute debate, if that's what you want to call it, and check him out. See for yourself what kind of person his is before you judge. In fact, check him out on his myspace page. ASK questions rather than give recriminations. Seek justice rather than be the sheeple he's trying so desperately to help.

Alright, I went to his myspace page and have some questions:

1)Who is this guy? I've lived in Conway my entire 24 years and have never seen him, nor heard of him, in my life.

2)Where is he from? I guess this question is an addendum to question one, but I still find it hard to believe that no one that I've asked (all life-long Conway residents) has as much as heard of this guy. Given the fact that my grandfather has pastored in Conway for 32 years and is active in both the church community and the Republican Party, I'd expect him to at least have heard of this guy.

I hope Bennett does have an agenda to work to better our state and community, but who is he?

Well, he is 22 years old, so he's rather young I think to be known. But didn't I read somewhere that he's only been here for 2 years, and he's from NY?

NO STUNT>>>>> this young man is honest and a hard worker...Would you like a threatening phone call. would you like a break in discovered by your wife??? I THINK NOT...The break in and phone call are now legal issues, and he has asked for assistance through the right channels of law enforcement agencies....BRAVO BRAVO for a young couple living their dreams in this county...To have a campaign from their door with no money other than enough to paint some signs, to have the COURAGE-to state claims which are record..
and to believe in the constitutional rights that one can run and be elected in a FAIR race- BRAVO AGAIN..I do hope the best for this young politician with a penchant for honesty, devotion, and INTEGRITY on political issues and exposure knowledge finds a SEAT TO BE HEARD FOR THE PUBLIC>
GET OFF THE COMPUTERS AND VOTE.....

Please, before you accuse my husband of pulling a "publicity stunt", do some research. I believe that the incident report is public record. The officers who came to our home that night found evidence of forced entry, saw the drawing that was left and saw the phone log on Mark's cell phone - I believe that all of this is on the report. It hurts that people are so quick to judge on an incident that was seriously frightening for us. Mark is a good, honest and passionate man. He is not running for this office to gain anything for himself and only desires to serve and represent the people of this county.

This video ROCKS!!! I only wish I lived in his dictrict!!! He'd have my vote!

It's time for a change and this young man has the solution. Imagine this...by the people, for the people, of the people...sound familiar? If not, go back and google the "Gettysburg Address"...

Say what you want about the man, but the message of freedom, liberty, and the principles of our founding fathers is something you can't destroy.

It's not fair, Anita, and your husband may well be the upstanding guy he seems to be, but you can't blame the citizens for being wary and suspious of politicians pulling stunts and crafting headlines. We've all got ample cause, unfortunately. This is the first time I've heard the candidate's name. Now, you bet I'll be watching at how he responds to this attention. Whether he asked for it or not, the spot light is now on him. Let's see how he does. P.S. Keep your dignity, your faith, and your anger well in check.
