San Rafael hotel sex sting triggers civil rights suit

The police department budget needs to be slashed in half if this is how they waste their time and the public's money. The United States was never concieved of as a police state but it has become one because Americans have agreed to oever-fund the police. Don't blame the police or the police mentality---they just do what cop-personality types always do---nose around where they don't belong.

EVERY Californian needs to watch, and then re-watch Keith Olberman's comment on Proposition 8, regardless of how you voted. Although, like Keith I am not gay, the vote of the people of California makes your entire state look pathetic. We used to enjoy vacatoning in California each year, visiting wine country, staying in your motels, eating your food, paying your outrageous prices for gas, buying souveniers and paying to visit all kinds of tourist attractions. But now, seeing the type of intolerant jackasses who live in a state governed by the Austrian Fuhrer, we will never spend another dime or another minute in your sick, pathetic, intolerant state full of bigots. And, while one family of 5 not spending money there for a month a year will not financially impact California, our children have learned a valuable leasson about why we do not visit or patronize uncivilized places.

Hey, just because I'm a sleazebag pervert who goes to a public restroom to have or solicit sex, is no reason to arrest me. I should be able to get down and dirty wherever I want. If you don't like it, don't live so close to SF, and don't let your kids go to that restroom alone, or who knows what will happen. Just don't impinge on my rights. BTW, if you're wondering what I was doing there, so far from home, I went there to find another perv like me who likes to do it in toilets. The thing that really **** me off is that I never got off. After I win this case, I'll use the Civic Center restroom, or maybe Northgate Mall. I have needs.

Michael, please stay in Il. We have enough intolerant bigots here that we don't need your hateful ilk visiting our state. If those who think like you would move to IL, CA would become a much better place.

You are entitled to your opinion, but if it just based on this one story in the IJ, you are not getting the whole story.

I do not remember all the details, but the previous news stories included much more. The episode begins by someone posting anonymous ads on Craigslist soliciting sex in the public restroom at the Embassy Suites. If memory serves correctly, the hotel or someone complained to the police. The police then followed up with a stakeout to catch the people who posted on Craiglist if they appeared to meet someone for sex.

I am not an expert, but given these circumstances, if this is accurate, it does not sound like entrapment to me.

I have stayed at that hotel with my family. I do not blame management or other concerned citizens for trying to rid that establishment of any such behavior, whether it be straight, gay or otherwise.

I want our police to act in these circumstances.

Perhaps you should direct your comments at Barack and his Get Out The Vote effort - the overwhelming Black turnout in California secured Obama's victory and sealed Prop 8's passage.

The Gay Community is furious with Barack for not supporting their whiney widdle weddings.

Funny thing though .... I don't imagine you and your family were spending your vacation dollars in Oakland, south Central L.A. and other heavily African American communities .... so I don't think they'll feel your pinch.

In January ,2007 I was accused of an indicent act in a Miami Airport Rest Room.This was reported by a 15 year old Boy .I did not look at him speak to him or touch him .He said I was Masturbating at the urnial which is not true .He said I was making noises and tapped on the insde wall of Toilet and reached underneath ,all false I was doing what I intended to do in the Stall .If he was in the next stall ,he should mind his own business and not pay attention what the person is doing in private in the next stall.He reported to parents and Police. I was arrested and jailed for five days .They would not give me information to obtain a bailes man in jail .Once your in jail they want to keep you there to protect there jobs.
Upon returning to court in April ,The judge said give me Two days and I will try to come up with something to get this behing you and back home .I returned to court after two days in Miami.I was told by duty council I would get 5 years probation if I pleaded guily .And I would need to report to probation officer if I returned to Miami. I thought about it and the costs of a good lawlor ($17000,00 ) I pleaded guilty as I was making small moves of **** to help me urniate .I urniate slowly by pinching **** helps the flow of urnine .The 15 year old said I was Masturbating .I was not, To save $17000,00 dollars I pleaded guilty .The worse thing I ever done .I' am ruined for life back in Canada.No work ,not allowed in Gyms ,people won't speak to me,etc I regret not selling property to pay for legal costs.My Brother Knights did not ofer any help ,or my so called friends .I was not working at the time due to illness.
I wish I could re-open this file .Any suggestions or help.They ( In Court ) tricked me into pleading guilty .I did not have a Lawlor ,only duty Council ,Which I did not like .He was not polite,and felt I should plead guilty to get this behing me .Wrong move for me .Please help me in Canada

Where do you live? Last time I checked California is still the most liberal place around and it wasnt our fault here in Northern California that it passed. If Northern California was a separate state prop 8 would have failed by a landslide and pot would be legal.

Personally, I think that Prop. 8 would have failed but for Mayor Newsom's stupid quote "Here it is, whether you like it or not...." From a political standpoint, it's just stupid to irritate and energize the forces against you. Any time anyone takes an "In Your Face" attitude, it increases the forces against them.
