Are all city employees married to fellow city employees and related to each other? Nepotisim is alive and well in city government!

If he loved his wife and family so much, why would he choose suicide?

Yeah, I can see myself committing suicide just because my employer thinks I'm a schmuck ...

What a cop-out by the family (no pun intended). Just another family looking for a lawsuit. This guy misbehaved then couldnt take the penalty. He sure didnt have any problem dishing out the punishment. Simple Shameful.

I miss my uncle. He was a great man who always put the safety of other first. He's been my uncle long before he was a cop who has been married to my aunt straight out of high school (to moron from Santa Clarita). They both loved the city of burbank so much that they did all that they could to make it one of the best places to live. If he had not done this then no one would know what is really happening in he police force. Now the real truth will come out and just like Uncle Chris said..."this light will shine for the world to see".

I dont wish anybodyan early grave and have some compassion for any family that has to go thru any kind of pain from things that occur from this type of incident, however this was probably one of many corrupt officiers within the Burbank Police Dept which I am very familar with as I reside in the city. Officer may well be a fall guy due to the problems with this police department started from the top and not some lone officer. The FbI would not have even been involved in an investigation had there not been some sort of major reason for them to do so. I have been harressed over and over by this department non stop as it still continues to this day. I have been stopped while taking my trash out, crossing street in a crosswalk and ask to stop and show Id, was tasered on my porch not street for not putting down my cigarette, and list of abuse goes on. If I question about my rights Im told If I dont like the ways things are done in Burbank I can move. Well that sums up this department they make their own laws when it come to inforcing the law and thats just the way they do period. Nice to read the city counsel was asking for cheif to step down that would be a good start isnt that where it probably started. Sorry Im just a person who feels he is suppose to have some rights and not mourn a bad cop.

Suicide is often associated with mental illness. It's really hard not being as perfect as you and your children are. Hopefully you will one day experience the horrors of suicide with a dead child first hand just to show you the pain involved. May you burn in hell.

leykis, how did you get your hands on the evidence that showed he "misbehaved" or that he dished "out the punishment"? Talk about shameful, look in the mirror.

That's exactly what it is. City employees and their families never met a lawsuit against taxpayers that they didn't like.

Burbank PD is corrupt. Me and some friends have placed several complaints and nothing has ever been done. I'm glad the FBI is looking into this as this will make the people of this city feel a little safer from those that are supposed to serve and protect us. It saddens me it took a man taking his life but like the report said, it's going to "shine a bright light on a big problem in Burbank."

Eat kaka and die, fool. Yeah, it's really comforting that the Burbank PD had a nutcase on the force. Maybe for you, but not for me. Aren't they supposed to screen these guys for mental illness?

"He gave up his family to shine a bright light on a big problem in Burbank and nobody would listen," ...?????

Sounds to me like he was guilty of something. A real man doesn't leave his family alone like that for a "job." Come on.

This is an unfortunate event... And even more unfortuate that police suicide is more common than an officer being killed in the line of duty.

Often times, these officers who take their own lives, only see themselves as police officers- not fathers, husbands, sons, friends, etc. It's their complete identity and if they have that taken away or the threat of that being taken away, they cannot deal with that loss.

I lost my boyfriend in the same circumstance and not only until years later am I now able to speak openly and honetly about it. Early on, I too blamed the police department for him taking his life (he was under investigation for something very minor at the time), but now that time has past and in reality has set in, the only one responsible for him pulling the trigger was himself.

I feel for this family and hope that they can get past this and eventually forgive their husband, father, friend for his actions.

Name one police agency not brimming in corruption.

Bush and now Obama are wrecking the country and no one at the FBI is investigating them..

Geithner channeling trillions to his cronies at Chase and Goldman Sachs. No FBI investigation for insider theft of tax monies, yet they have man power to check po dunk Burbank for what exactly, passing people over for a raise, planting evidence on suspects, committing perjury? What are the supposed crimes? anyone

Neil Thomas Gunn Sr., 50, was one of a dozen current or former Burbank officers who had their records subpoenaed by a federal grand jury in connection with an FBI investigation into excessive force at the department.

But Tina Gunn described her husband as a hard-working cop who cared deeply for the department and said the police brass and the union failed to support him against unfounded use-of-force allegations, effectively ruining his career and..http://sonomanewstoday.bl ogspot.com/2009/11/department- turned-its-back-on-him-mrs.htm l

In the case of certain things (racism, child abuse, rape) the accusation is as bad a conviction. Doesn't matter if you did it or not, simply being accused is as good as being convicted. The man's career was ruined and his personal life was shattered as a result (the stigma of this mess would have followed him anywhere). A distraught man + available firaem = suicide. The failures in the Burbank PD that could only blame racism for their own shortcomings as officers and human beings might as well have pulled the trigger themselves.

Stehr needs to go. This department has had major problems since he took over. He has absolutely no repspect from his officers and why the city council has ignored this for months is mind boggeling. David Gordon is the only person on that council with any guts.
