Gay rights advocates seek to stop marriage measure
Gay rights advocates asked California's highest court Friday to keep a citizens' initiative that would again ban same-sex marriage off the November ballot.

Why are the gays trying to block this???Because they know that in November voters are going to vote against same sex marriage..

Yeah. The gays don't want to accept or face the truth. That the majority of people choose not to recognize gay marriage nor do they want it legalized. So rather than be democratic and let the people choose, the gays want to force their way. And What's next? Allowing 3 way marriages? Allowing people to animal marriages? Hey, let's just force it through the courts and make it happen. Don't let the people vote on it. That would be too democratic.

I find it quite interesting that a California Constitutional revison is sponsored by an Arizona based organization. What business is it of theirs what is in the California Constitution?

What's next - bisexual marriage???

We don't live in a democracy, did you take history in shcool? I guess you don't understand the legal system in America. It is a judges job to overturn unconstitutional laws, like the ones banning gay marriage, no matter how many people voted on them, it's part of the checks and balances that we have in this country. If you don't like they American system, I'm sure there are plenty of other countries you could move to. Your animal analogy is just moronic, if you don't have a better argument you should just give up now. Please explain to me how giving gays the equal rights they deserve, by allowing them to marry, affects you in any way. |

Delusional much? |

We live in a democratic republic. Your post is nothing but a pile of drivel, nothing in it pertains to America or it's government. It pertains to your sick, twisted delusion that you call religion. Thank goodness more and more intelligent people in this country are turning their backs on your silly beliefs. What happens in California in November won't really matter when this eventually winds it's way to the Supreme Court, where equal rights for all will be upheld. You keep spouting your hateful crap, the days of inequity numbered. Long live America and the freedom it affords every one of it's citizens, even the ones you don't like. |

I could care less if Jimmy and Johnny want to get married. And it's none of my business what someone does in their bedroom.

That conservative prick mentions a "political agenda".
What political agenda?? All gays want to do is get married. When one person loves another, why can't they get married? By the way, gays are human beings, not animals, and they would get married in groups of two, not three. Stop jumping to conclusions based on your fears. No one would ever let dogs and people or three people marry at once. I'm glad this group filed to take the measure off the ballot. If it were to pass, not only would marriage be banned, but the marriages performed already would be nullified. Imagine getting married to a person you love and then hearing that your marriage now is null and void. Also, if it were to pass, there would actually be a clause in our state Constitution banning two people from doing something that others can do without scorn. That would be a sad day indeed. |

Another thing, what do you people care if gays want to get married? Is it somehow threatening your marriages?
And we straight people have such spotless track records on marriage, yep, yep we do. We never cheat or abuse or act promiscuously. Never, only gay people do that! |

It is interesting that 'SanteriaEL' calls gay people heartless... if you read the comments by the fundamentalists, they are heartless and dehumanize gay people. I was taught that in this country the ideal is that there not be any second-class citizenry, yet over and over again there are those like SanteriaEL who want to make one or another group into second class citizens and to create a state religion. This is clearly against the intent of those who wrote the constitutions of the several states and the US Constitution.
If they want to have a theocracy, I bid them to look at Iran, which kills gay people and decide if it is truly worth it to mix religion and politice. |

You sound like you're a messenger from Satan, not a messenger of God. Pure Evil lives within this person! |

I am confused. I grew up in a 'religious' home. I know what the bible says. And I believe others here do to. It does condemn homosexuality. But it condemns the act, not the person. The bible says to not judge lest you be judged. We spend so much time judging them no one is sharing what the true gospel is. Of course a gay rights activist is trying to stop the measure that will take away their right to be married. The bible is clear that man & woman were to be married. But if they choose to not follow that pattern, who are you all to judge. Just by hating these homosexuals you have committed murder in your hearts. I am one who will vote to have the law overturned and that marriage should be between a man and a woman but I am not going to hate the people who have chosen this life style. They just need to know that Jesus loves them too, just like He loves you & me.

And you just judged!.. your a hypocrite of the highest.. take your bible and cram it where the sun don't shine you liar! |

"Marriage" at its core is a legal contract between two consenting adults. You can't marry your dog or your neighbor's sheep because an animal is incapable of entering into a legal contract, same with juveniles, so throwing that out there just makes you look uneducated and fanatical.
Religious folk will tell you that a same-sex couple that has lived together monogamously for decades can not marry and if they did it would be the end of civilization as we know it, but they will support the "sanctity" of a marriage between two drunk individuals that have spent five minutes of semi-conscious quality time over a blackjack table... or a celebrity's 24-hour oops marriage... or physically abusive marriages… or marriages where one partner has serial affairs… Let’s get the religion out of marriage and call it what it is a legal contract between two consenting adults. Then we can go back to ACTUAL issues that affect us all. |

I couldn't agree more. The gay community will stop at nothing to destroy our democracy and impose the will of the few on the many.
This is a democracy and the will of the people was loud and clear. Marriage is the union of one man and one woman in HOLY MATRIMONY. This will be an amendment on the ballot in the fall and will pass. |
|
Who are out to destroy democracy in this country are religious nuts like you who are trying to replace our republic with a theoccracy. You are no different that the Taliban in Afganistan trying to legislate our religious beliefs into law. Your groups should be treated for what they are- terrorist groups and traitors to this country- to be judged and executed before a firing squad. The end of days predicted their would be a multitude of false prophets arise claiming to be messengers of God, when really they are messengers of Satan. Satan's messenger's are certianly showing their faces here on this blog! |
|
Not just between "two consenting adults", but between a man and a woman. THAT is also "at its core". It has been for centuries. |

I can only assume you are a Muslim extremist and a captain in the Iranian National Guard. You certainly aren't a member of the United States military defending democracy and the freedoms the Founding Fathers gave us over 200 years ago. |

I want to know where the hell any other state gets off trying to change the laws of our state? I thought that's what borders were for; to ensure each state's sovreignty. As a California Native, and as much tourist money as I've spent in Arizona, I'd like to know where these fools get off trying to force their paleolithic viewpoint down the throats of California citizens.
It's the same history as Hawaii repeating itself: in 2000, the citizens of Hawaii voted to allow Gay marriage in that beautiful island paradise, the Land of Aloha. But, according to their state laws, one year was required to allow opposing views to be heard. So what happened? Elements on the Mormon church and the fundamentalist "Christian" churches sent their missionaries and adherents to Hawaii with the mandate that they establish themselves as residents within that year, and when the vote came up, these religious bigots (who had swelled the voter roles disproportionately in their favor) voted against it, and the law was overturned, banning Gay marriage in Hawaii. I was there briefly during that summer (2000) and I spoke to numerous citizens there (those who really were true Hawaiian citizens, not malihini's and usually not haoles, and they all felt that Gays deserved equal rights, and could not understand all the bigotry coming from the Mainland. Shame, shame, shame on all of you who would use your so-called religion as a club to enforce your bigotry and hatred on those of us who wish to marry the ones we love. You have the unmitigated gall to protest our Gay Pride events, and I don't recall us inviting you. Yet, we have never gone to your churches and temples and protested your "right" to be hateful and exclusionary. You want to see what true equality and acceptance look like? Just look at our Gay community. But, if you still can't stand what you see, then instead of attemting to curtail our God-(and Bill of Rights)-given right to freedom and the Pursuit of Happiness, maybe you should take a lesson from your well-thumped Bibles: if thine eye offends thee, pluck it out! It's time you left us alone to live, and love, as we wish! |
