Did you ride your bike to work today?

Trading their four wheels for two, more people these days are riding bicycles to work and for errand running instead of driving cars.

Yes, I rode my bike 60 miles into work today. It took me four hours. I just got in but it's time to leave so that I can make it back home by dinner time.

I rode to work today - it was one of the scariest things I have ever done. The lack of bike lanes is disturbing. I only saw one other rider.

No, I'm an L.A. City Employee. I had my limousine drop me off by the entrance.

I rode mine. 13 miles one way for me. It can be a little scary in some parts where the lanes are small, but I actually got to work faster than when I sit behind stopped cars... imagine that.

I've been riding to work everyday for about a month. It's a little over 20 miles round trip. I can't believe that you can get a ticket for riding on the sidewalk when motorists refuse to share the lanes... and bike lanes hardly exist.

Yes, 23 miles round trip, 3 days a week for the past 2 years. I would never rather be driving. Its faster, it keeps me in good shape, and keeps the earth in good shape as well. I typically see 1 or 2 other riders a day. The lack of bike lanes is the real shame though. It would definitely encourage more cyclists. Even on a 90 degree day. Friday will be the real test though!

Yes, I rode my bike to work today. I have riden my bike everyday to work and around town for the last year. I am so tired of the traffic, high gas costs. etc... Besides it provides me with extra exercise and I get to enjoy more of the nature that is around me. However, all this hype about going green... Well the Cities & States should provide a more user friendly public transporation and bike lanes, signs etc.... Some of the car divers out there are crazy...

No. I have a flat tire. ;-(
I DID ride it on Earth Day and a couple days after that, before the flat.
I'll ride it again a couple days a week (Tue./Thur.) after I fix it.
Only have to go 4-5 miles on side streets.
A couple blocks on Sherman Way going through the tunnel gets a little "hairy"!

As much as the mayor encourages--but strangly doesnt do it himself--it would be great if I could. But I cant, as most people cannot due to distance, safety issues of dealing with idiot drivers you share road with, etc

I ride my bike to work(6 miles one way),and when ever I go out, to the stores, to the movies, to the park and etc. I've been stoped by the police more times than I can count! I've been hit by cars, run over by a 18-wheeler, and had a bike stolen; but I will continue to ride my bike. The police have given me tickets for riding on the sidewalk several times; but I would be 'stupid' to risk my life riding in traffic, were there are no bike lanes! I wonder if a cop would let there young kids, ride their bikes in traffic, without a bike lane?

Both myself and co-worker biked today, 8 miles.
Took 45 minutes with an easy pace and short water break.
We both had so much energy, and typically takes 30 minutes, stressed and in traffic.
I cant believe 15 minutes extra, allowed me to enjoy my commute, exercise, and not be a tool to the oil industry!

Yes, I bike 6 miles to work every morning and bus+bike back to avoid heat and traffic. It is incredibly satisfying and takes less time than driving.

It is so much easier, faster and enjoyable to get around Los Angeles by bike than you might think. I ride to work from Silverlake to the Beverly Center (15 miles round trip). This is an amazing site to help map the best biking route on your future trips. And it tells you distance, how much C02 you saved by biking, calories burned and how much money you saved in gasoline.

I've been riding my bike to work since 1974-75 during the 1st oil embargo. I now own 2 recumbents which make commuting a pleasure and the bike lane give you like a private lane which no cars and even buses don't have. Its a wonderful way to travel and wouldn't change my way of life for a car for anything.

10 miles round trip from Boyle Heights to DTLA.
You don't need bike lanes! CA Vehicle Code 21202 gives up full right to take the lane. This works fine on all but the busiest, fastest streets.
Riding on the sidewalk is more dangerous than riding in the street; drivers aren't looking for you there. The majority of car-bicycle collisions are in intersections, not the 'hit from behind' that seems to be the scariest when you are riding. That actually happens infrequently.
The more of us in the street, the safer the streets become!

Yes, to and from the bus stops. Great way to connect the bus lines. Great way to get around during the congested lunch hour. Been seeing more people on their bikes lately. A great sign!
