Glad they caught 2 out of 3 of the slimeballs responsible for this. It was because the people at the bar worked with police to see that they did not get away. Goes to show that not everyone at a bar is up to no good. The people of San Pedro are trying to revitalize that part of town by bringing in new business and requiring dress codes to keep the gang trash out. That is what everyone should be focusing on, rather than wondering what an off duty cop was doing in a bar.

I remember someone placing bets that the name of the suspect would have an EZ at the end. YOU WIN!!!

Good. Just because he's a cop he didn't deserve being attacked by some thugs. He was off duty trying to enjoy a Friday night with friends and was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I live in San Pedro and proud of it. However, I appreciate the efforts being made down in that area with the new lofts, new businesses, etc...but I will not go there after dark. This story illustrates the fact that you could be enjoying a nice evening out and because of the area trouble finds you. My wife enjoys going to Niko's, Marcello's, and Neil's but I always tell her lets get there early.

Go figure they were hispanic, maybe even illegal and once again a police officer is the victim. Its about time we hang the Closed sign at the border. Check out the number of arrest warrants for murder in LA county...who needs these people.
Not us.
I hope the officer gets well soon.
I'm a white person and I will be the first to say that there are lots of bad people from all races and every city has them. I don't think you can move away from the trash these days. It's really sad that people always assume when San Pedro has a crime it's automatically an Illegal or a Hispanic. Or when Long Beach has a crime, it's gotta be a black person.

As far as your border comment. I really wish the US Government would restrict the # of people coming into the country every year. That is for sure.

Lastly, I pray the officer has a full recovery.

One more comment. A special Thanks to the people at the bar for helping the police track down the criminals.

I was born and raised in San Pedro and proud of it. I have spent many nights out with friends enjoying sixth street. However, now that I am older and have children, I have a different outlook and I do not want to be in the "wrong place at the wrong time" as this poor police officer happened to be. Crimson is a nice place to meet as are the other establishments in the area, but I do not feel safe in that area at night. The last time I was down there, I did not feel safe getting back to my car. There's no reason why San Pedro cannot be just as successful as Santa Monica, LB or any other towns by the sea. It just needs to be cleaned up. Maybe 24 hour security and more police in the area to take it over. It's getting out of control.

I completely understand your point. However, I am not assuming they are hispanic...they are. Who killed the Manhattan Beach cop a hispanic, where did he run too, Mexico. Who killed the cop in colorado, a hispanic, where did he run too, Mexico. What are Denver and LA? Welcome zones for illegals. Who does the majority of the tagging around town? A local waitress was almost killed on Pacific when her car was smashed into, who fled the scene, 4 hispanics. My friends sale boat was rammed by a jet ski, who fled an illegal. Who covered for him in lies a hispanic friend. Did you read about the hit and run in the paper, the cold case...where did he run, Mexico. Sorry dude it is what it is, lets take the trash out.

Attract a gay clientele and you'll see how quickly downtown Pedro will clean up. Look at Long Beach, Echo Park, Silverlake.

An witness says Sr. Valdez were denied entry into the club because he didn't meet the dress code. So he goes and gets some friends to "restore his pride". That's what the dress code is for, it filters out riff-raff. So instead of fighting and stabbing inside the bar, the dress code effectively moves the fight outside. Easier to clean up that way, just hose the blood down the storm drain. See? These people aren't so hard to understand, are they?

Since I spent five years covering the story, I thought I'd correct the record to show the Manhattan Beach officer was killed by an American citizen. Roger Hoan Brady's father was an NBC reporter covering the Vietnam War. His mother was a Vietnamese woman who married the reporter.

Brady fled after killing the officer and was caught in Vancouver, Washington.

I know Ulloa and he is definitely not illegal born and raised here, I cant believe he is involved in something like this he wasn't an angel and I ma not going to sugar coat it but the kind of trouble he had gotten into as a younger man wasn't even close to this I thought he was on the right track something happened no doubt. That just goes to show everyone you just don't anyone really and what makes them click. I pray that the officer is going to be OK and that he is back on his feet soon. God Bless. Don't assume by the name that they are illegals he was born here in U.S.
