OK, go ahead and feel sorry for the person who was killed, but remember to show a little compassion, too, for the train's engineer who is always the last person to see the trespasser before impact -- and who is powerless to halt a speeding train in time to avoid a deadly collision. These trespass fatalities occur all too frequently -- and they are ALWAYS preventable: Just stay off the tracks and stay out of the train's path. It takes a half-mile or more to stop a train like Metrolink after the emergency brakes are applied. Just remember that by the time an engineer sees someone ahead on the rails, it's already too late to stop the train!

Good grief... waah waah, I was late to work oh, gee, so sorry your father/son/husband is dead btw If we are going to have mass transit it has to run ON TIME. A lot of people have an extremely cavalier attitude about getting to work on time these days. A situation that did not exist when I began working over 40 years ago. In my day excessive late arrivals turned in to unemployment, as it should. In this case, even at that time, it would have been accepted ,however your attitude reflects a lot of what is wrong with American now. Most train accidents are caused by the victims, being on the tracks where they should not be, either by ignoring the signals or out and out trespassing. Since trains run on tracks they seldom chase down people in cars or pedestrians. Thus fact that a lot of people were delayed is important, not to minimize the tragic aspect here. A death is certainly important but the functioning of our public transportation is also a concern.

If you are too STUPID to learn it, then you DIE!! I'm tired of hearing about dumshi#'s who do this, or jump into rain swollen flood control canals, or drive into roads swamped with water and wonder why they are about to drown. Has society gotten themselves into a Alice in Wonderland mentality??

Move the carcass and get the trains moving. If you walk in front of a train you will be killed. This person is too dumb to warrant an intensive investigation by the police. Our tax dollars could be put to better use by clearing out illegals.

I ride the earlier train from Ventura. I know one of the Engineers,(not the one on that train) He is a family man and a very nice guy. It has to put a big psychological strain anyone to watch helplessly as your train comes up on and runs over a person. I feel sorry for the man's family if he had any, but couldn't he just off suicide with a bottle of pills or something ?

Larry the Table Guy wrote: <quoted text> Hey this is LA. It could've been a shemale. Eddie Murphy had that confusion a few years back, as I recall. Seriously if this man was committing suicide he should have been more considerate, Besides the disruption there is the very traumatic experience for the train operator. The same for a driver of motor vehicle or a cop who is forced into death by cop as has happened of late. It is aslo not a good thing for the people who have to find you if you do pills or poison, hang yourself or whatever. It is therefore very inconsiderate and selfish. The only people i absolve are terminally ill patients, especially those facing a painfully slow death or having to live as a near vegetable. In those cases there should be medical facilities available to allow a dignified exit without creating a horrible experience for others.

Poor man now he must burn in hell for taking his own life. God says that you must not kill yourself now god will punish him for breaking his will. He will suffer more than he knows as Lucifer rains down his wrath upon his soul in hades. If he thought he had it bad now just wait till he gets a little taste of the afterlife in hell.

grow up people. the article's headline, as stated, was MAN KILLED. so I repeat: WHO GIVES A FLYING LEAP WHO WAS LATE? Obviously the editors knew what element was NEWSWORTHY... but no. your worthless bottoms are soooooo much more important.
Yes it's traumatic for the engineer. Yes the guy did something "inconsiderate." I'm sure in his suicidal depression, he was supposed to be concerned with whether people got to work on time. And I'm also sure that for his mistake, his children, parents, loved ones should all pay forever and garner no sympathy.. because after all, his death INCONVENIENCED soooo many losers for a couple of hours. It has nothing to do with being cavalier about being late to work. It has EVERYTHING to do with being just a tad insensitive to HUMAN LIFE. I repeat: GROW UP. TRY USING ADULT PRIORITIES.
or else pray nothing ever happens to anyone YOU care about... heaven forbid, you might be late to work if they die.

Your right Mary who cares about being late for work because some dumb **** wants to die. We should all light a candle for him instead of going to work to make a living. I am not sorry he is dead but I do feel bad for all of those hardworking people that were late today. Next guy that wants to die should think about how it will impact the non-crazy people around him or her

Mary, give me a break. This guy caused a lot of problems for a lot of good citizens. I bet you haven't thought about the poor Metrolink worker who has to repaint the front of the engine. Talk about traumatic!
