It's things like this that preclude me being an ACLU supporter, I'm not Christian (I'm Jewish) and find it hard to comprehend how someone could be offended by this cross.

Even if you are going to say that the separation of church and state is an issue that is worthy of your efforts, attacking a memorial to war dead, the words "under God" in the pledge of allegiance or a few tiny crosses on the L.A. County seal are clearly a waste of energy.

Militant Atheists are no better than, and frequently worse than the fundamentalist religious nutjobs, they both seek to impose their own religious beliefs on all of society.

We've lost our minds! This cross, erected over 70 years ago by veterans honoring their fallen brothers, is 12 miles from the interstate in the middle of the desert. You idiots who get up every morning and look for things to be offended by, need to do some soul searching and discover what's REALLY missing in your pathetic lives.

The ACLU has done more harm to society then good. Another example of their intent on destroying the moral principles this country was founded on.

Common loser ACLU people, aren't there more important things to go worry about?

This is the only way a group of losers can get attention. This shouldn't even make the news.

Boy, everyone here is brain dead. You really don't mind having some random people erect monuments for whatever reason on public land????? I'm not paying taxes for public land to be defaced by some wacko who wants to create a memorial. If you want to morn the war veterans, go to DC. They have a great big beautiful memorial there for WWI veterans. Maybe I should go to Yosemite and erect a giant glove there in memory of Michael Jackson who brought so much love and great music to our lives. Would you all mind that? If you want to have people remember the dead, erect a nice big cross on your front lawn, and then everyone who drives or walks by can remember the dead and be grateful for their sacrifice. I'm sure more people will see it on your front lawn then out in the middle of nowhere!

It wasn't a National Preserve when it was put up, it was open range land.

Your lack of respect for people who died for your freedom is disgusting.

What about the freedom of speech for the veterans who erected that cross? Shouldn't they have rights too?

Ken the azzwipe, what grade are you in? I'm sure you are poor, uneducated, and just stupid. These people are the reason you can enjoy this country. Go die.

You are really a pathetic, miserable human being. Seriously, you're angry about something in your life, and I suggest that you find out what that is before it eats you alive. Seriously!

You sad people don't get it. First of all, I have served my country in the military, I am well educated, I make a very good living, and I love life. Most of you don't have the ability to articulate a valid argument on this subject. You just attack the person whom you disagree with. Unfortunately, this the norm of today's discussions, so I don't blame you all for being one of the sheep.
When it comes to freedom of speech, we must remember that there are limits and responsibilities associated with that. A cross on a hill on a national reserve means nothing to me since it is unaccompanied by any explanation of its reason to being there. It's fine to remember the war dead, just do it on your own land or have it sanctioned by our government like the one in DC.
