Take them all to jail! These same groups are the reason Lincoln Park (downtown Long Beach) is the most disgusting park in the city. Bums urinating, defecating and drinking right out in the open. Disgusting! If churches really care they should invite the bums into their sanctuaries and provide services there not in a public park.

Whatever the back story for these bums, it's their own faults......if you wanted, you could have a job.....Lazy.

Looks like the Gov't does not beleave its their job to help the home less. To bad! For "Lewd" you need to read up on the homeless, some would like a job. Open your eyes and see the world as it is not as you want it to be.

Foreclosures, recession, rising gas prices, combined
with selfish attitudes like the brilliant people that shared comments before me, wow!!! what a lucky bunch, immune to fate. I was homeless for four big years and it must be because I am stupid........nothing to do with the economy see you on the corner begging likely sooner than later my friend |

Do you know how easy it is to get a job.....it's called hard work, whether u work at a burger joint or for a corporation.....do what u gotta do to survive, the homeless are homeless because they choose to be.....because they didn't get the job they wanted, because they got laid off and felt sorry about themselves and did nothing to continue on.....it's called determination.....that is the real world I've been in it and live in it....you should check it out. |
Many homeless suffer from mental disorders, such as schizophrenia, which of course makes it almost impossible to function in normal society. |

Doheny State Beach is a garbage dump. I actually don't understand why anyone would vacation here? With this said and a general feeling of how society probably feels about the homeless I don't see why it's a big deal to feed them there? I couldn't imagine what would be said or done if they tried to do this about 5 miles north at Salt Creek State Beach Park. The Ritz Carolton is there as well, could you imagine how the Department of Parks would go crazy about this? They should be happy and quiet that they are getting a great use for Doheny the cesspool of all cesspools in Orange County!

Homeless in that area will be including illegal aliens. We don't need them congregating in a park. Unwanted pregnancies can ensue, like this one: http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2008/05/... Let's keep those illegals coming, folks. They're an unlikely boon to biologists because, as you can see, they'll try things that wouldn't ordinarily occur to the average person. |

So, let's say you have a job and you're living paycheck to paycheck. Not hard to imagine, with gas prices being so high and driving the cost of everything up. Then you get laid off. When my fiance got laid off, it took him 5 months to find a job. We were lucky becuase I had some $$$ saved up. Most peole don't. Now, the hand -to- mouth paycheck is gone. Bill collecters and rent are due. Unemployment doesn't cut it. Now, you've lost everything in about 6 months. You have no phone, and no address... you MAY have some nice clothes left for a job interview, and a place to shower fairly regularly... but if you hand in an application with no address or phone # on it, how do they get in touch with you? I will agree that there is probably a small percentage who are homeless because they won't help themselves. But, most people don't "choose" to be homeless. I, too, have been homeless. I was lucky that my Mom let me stay. We hadn't gotten along for years, but she took me in anyways. Not ALL families are willing to do that. |
Wrong. Most homeless are drug addicts, alcoholics, or mentally ill. http://www.policyalmanac.org/social_welfare/h... Learn about what you're talking about before you try to come off as an authority. |

But I bet your fiance was looking for a job of the same caliber he had before being laid off, If I got laid off (I basically do live paycheck to paycheck by the way and in my position being laid off would not be uncommon) I would be looking for a job that day, flipping burgers, grocery, cable company, anything available to keep me going.....maybe I couldn't afford the things I do now but I would be able to survive, It comes down to determination and choices. |
One thing you must remember Lewd: A lot of the homeless individuals on our streets suffer from mental illness. They are incapable of finding a job, or living life on life's terms. I believe the government should do more to help these individuals. However, stopping kind people from feeding the homeless is not the answer, for who else is going to do it? Certainly not the government or any of the people who have posted previously on this thread. |

I don't have a problem with anyone feeding them or giving them a few bucks or whatever it may be.....a lot are mentally ill, but I believe that could be from drug use, alcohol abuse and very well just having to live on the streets, not eating right and the various temperatures they would have to deal with. The government is not going to help and I don't think they should, they have shelters and all that, clean up....and get a job. |

Easier to feed the homeless than deal with all the problems that cause homelessness.
Mentally ill forced to live on the street. Jobs opportunities going down. Not all jobs pay a living wage. How do those illegal aliens at Carl's junior survive? Have you gone to their homes? Not everyone qualifies, or wants, to work while getting welfare and food stamps. Harder to get if you do not have young children. Taxes are high - you must support illegal immigrant mothers and kids - they do qualify for many benefits. Men, even if you never touched or even met the woman, you may be responsible for supporting her and her offspring. Workers are coming in from other countries on various visas H1-B etc. also the Refugee Program from the State Department. |

Seagulls don't confront you with boxcutters and steal your wallet. Nice attempt to make sense tho. Keep it up. |
