A step toward immigration reform

The Immigration reform plan proposed by Senator McCain was doomed because the voters simply didn't believe that the borders would be secured, and that therefore millions of new illegals would immigrate here immediately when the "amnesty" or reform was enacted. It would seem that the voters were right. Progress has been made at the borders, but they remain far from secure. I think that our politicians will find, once again, that secure borders are a prerequisite to any reform in immigration policy. That doesn't mean that the voters don't want such reform. They do, for the most part. But the horse should always come before the cart. We tried it the other way around, and were sadly dissappointed with the results.

I can't say the ILLEGAL ALIENS are completely to blame for the shape of our economy, but they are a BIG part of the problem. The ILLEGAL ALIENS send BILLIONS upon BILLIONS out of this Country every year, money we will NEVER see again. Does this help our economy?

How about the BILLIONS the American taxpayers fork out for the ILLEGAL ALIEN BABIES, the schooling of them, the medical care and the list goes on, and on, and on.

How about the MILLIONS upon MILLIONS paid to jail ILLEGAL ALIENS for the crimes, then the cost to deport them. Does this help our economy?

Then you have these activist groups, the Catholic Church and the ACLU that want AMNESTY for these ILLEGAL ALIENS. It would be absolute suicide for this Country if AMNESTY were granted to the 20 million or so ILLEGAL ALIENS. We have more and more people out of work everyday and they want to add another 20 million to this Country? I say, "NO"!

If AMNESTY were ever granted to these 20 million ILLEGAL ALIENS, you can bet big money that 3 years from now, there would be ANOTHER 3-5 million ILLEGAL ALIENS demonstrating on our soil for AMNESTY.

An end MUST come to this illegal immigration. The perfect tool we have so far is E-Verify. It MUST be used by ALL businesses and Government Social Services. EVERY employee must be checked! If they are illegal, they are to be dismissed!

I believe it is time for all 50 States to pass a State law, like Arizona, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Missouri, South Carolina and a few others. It is time for these ILLEGAL ALIENS to go back to their home Country and get out of this Country. The problems they are causing will not go away until the ILLEGAL ALIENS are out of this Country. I think that is plain to see.

It's time for ZERO TOLERENCE with these ILLEGAL ALIENS. It's time for them to get back to their own country where they belong. If they truly want to be part of America, let them apply and wait their turn like the millions of others who want to come to America LEGALLY. They will then be welcomed with open arms.

I agree with you 100%. How can the fools in Washington talk about our economy, health care system and schools and not see the impact illegal immigration has had? The problems we're having can't be solved without addressing the root cause of it all.

The USA Presidents and Congress have been lying about they are going to secure the Mexican Border since the Illegal Alien Amnesty signed by Ronald Reagan in 1986.

This seems to be some of the results on Mexican Border Security as of today due to their FLAT Refusal/Failure to do so.

well is time for the American people to look for the facts not belive what the news say, first Mexicans are the biggest part of undocumeted immigrants, but they are only 30% of the undocumented population, 20% are other latin american people and the last 50% come from the rest of the world, so the wall will not work for that 30%. lets remember that most of them are hard working people in agriculture and other jobs that most American won't do, as well as the taxes they don't claim for his lack of status or all the social service thay don't qualified. truth to be told the American economy is in bad shape because of bad real estate lending, wall street scams, the war in Irak, so lets not blame it on that undocumented popuation that is only 3% of the American population. thank you

America is made up of all races, creeds, and colors. The thing that binds us is that we consider ourselves Americans first. Whatever country we or our ancestors came from is still revered by us, but that country and its traditions are secondary to the fact that we are Americans. I think one of the biggest problem people have with ILLEGAL aliens is the perception (or fact) that they have no interest in becoming Americans. When there are huge protests in the streets for immigration reform (amnesty for illegal aliens), and about all you can see is the Mexican flag, anger and animosity from true Americans will ensue. If someone wants to be an American, they need to come here through the legal channels, work at becoming an American and all that this entails, and show a bit more respect for those real Americans whose country this is. If you want to come here for the social services, make a fast buck to send to the homeland, or commit further crimes you are not welcome.
