PAS results aren't very accurate and are not admissable in court? How many people have YOU, Jon Hopkins, prosecuted based on PAS results? Just another stupid remark made by a DA who is inadequate in the position he holds. Go back where you came from, you have done enough damage in this county! Oh wait....That's right, Santa Cruz asked you to leave their county also!!

Hopkins says the Blood Alcohol of Perdock (PAS) is just a MINOR issue?? Really???? What happened to Officer Beland, he was pressured either through an "order or discussion" NOT to do BAC on his superior Russ Perdock.....then he gets fired. Not satisfied with yesterdays hearing. No confidence in this local government or "their" system. Unbelievable.

THE SHERRIFF'S DEPT. IN LAKE COUNTY IS A BOYS CLUB...FROM THE JUSTCE DEPARTMENT DOWN TO THE NEWBIE OFFICER...THERE IS NO JUSTICE IN THIS COUNTY.....IF THERE WERE WOULD DINNIUS EVEN BE ON TRIAL? PERDOCK WOULD BE CHARGED WITH BOATING UNDER THE INFLUENCE , VEHICULAR MANSLAUGHTER AND HE WOULD BE RELIEVED OF DUTY.... ANY TIME YOU ARE NOT AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS ...YOU ARE AT FAULT....60 TO 70 MILES AN HOUR IN THE BAY AT DUSK.....THAT SHOULD BE ENPOUGH TO PROSECUTE PERDOCK...THE ONLY WAY TO CLEAN UP THAT SHERRIFF'S DEPT. IS TO CLEAN HOUSE AND START OVER...THERE IS MORE GANG ACTIVITY FROM THE SHERRIFFS DEPT THAN WE HAVE ON THE STREET...ANYONE SEE WHATS WRONG WITH THAT PICTURE?

Jon Hopkins was not a DA but an ADA wanting to run for DA. Here is a part of a newspaper story from the Santa Cruz Sentinel:
Danner would not confirm or deny those rumors but did say there had been discussions between himself and Hopkins over the latter's future.
"Jon has told me that he wants to obtain employment elsewhere, and it may be that he does before my term ends," Danner says. "I've urged him to look at those options."
"I haven't had any conversation where I've told him I wanted to leave before he gets appointed," counters Hopkins.
Except for one year spent as executive director of the California District Attorneys Association, from 1986 to 1987 (three years before Canlis), Hopkins has worked in the Santa Cruz County DA's office since 1979. He recently returned from trying a homicide case in Lake County--an assignment some thought of as a form of temporary exile.
There are many other articles related to the county politely asking Jon Hopkins to move on! He did, and Lake County ended up with him! I think it is time that we also ask him to "move on"!

Why would a defense attorney want Hopkins removed? He is the worst attorney in the county, hands down. Why not stick with the worst and have a better chance of winning. Not wise to bring in some federal prosecutor to take over. Haltrom is not smart. Making issues without thinking over the end result. Dinius should have got himself a good local attorney who would have got rid of this thing early on.

Excellent point, let's get this plague out of our county and let him go into "exile" somewhere else. He makes the judges look bad, he makes the police look bad and he makes lawyers look bad. Heck, this man has perverted justice so bad in our county that we are known state wide for it. Ruining our county's reputation. Go back into exile, Hopkins.

"The only thing that exists is the two of you (Haltom and Lake County District Attorney Jon Hopkins) view the cause of this accident, and the circumstances that led up to this accident, from different perspectives. This is a classic case where a jury has to decide," Byrne said.

What a concept.

Foreign to most of the characters who post here.

Because any competent disinterested prosecutor would drop the manslaughter charge. Hopkins is either incompetent or has a vested interest in the case. Perhaps both.

You can have reams of dirty deeds done by the DA but if no one runs against him - just like last time with our sheriff and DA - he will still be sitting in that office. There is someone running against the sheriff, time for someone to toss their hat into the DA's ring.

Two new brooms needed for one BIG SWEEP in Lake County.

It's not just one man...
there is a "THEY".
Star chamber... covert hoodless government.
The greatest harm to every small town, city, or PTA... is malignant narcissism...the shallow ignorant processes utilized by feral identities within their hierarchies... likened to chickens... and dogs.
Their greatest contribution is their kinder of the korn klones.
Those soon
to hold the kounty jobs...
and do all they know.
This is a fudal territory...
like Tulia, Texas ...

There is already a viable challenger to the Sheriff. And it appears he's been here long enough to know the community but not long enough to have succumbed to the GOB mentality. As far as the DA's position goes, that is not as important to have someone from here. In fact, it may be a good thing to have someone not already infected, subjected and defected as the top cop. NO MORE IN DEPARTMENT IT'S YOUR TURN TO BE SHERIFF/DA!!
