While I think they exercised poor judgement in posting photos like these to the internet, leaving their identities easy to see, it's their own personal business. Who was looking for and found these photos in the first place? What kind of person are THEY? Is THEIR personal private business going to be displayed all over the media as well?

I commend Sharon Warner and all who are taking a stand against porn.

It goes beyond someone's "personal business" when a professor is sexually involved with students s/he is supervising, grading, advising, etc. Then it becomes the University's business.

There's nothing illegal or unethical about watching porn or having wild, kinky sex among consenting adults. If you don't like it, don't look. No one is putting a gun to your head forcing you to watch it. You're trying to impose your morals on to others - if the actions were not consensual, then it's another story. What they do on their own time, as long as it's not illegal, is none of anyone's business.

Typical holier than thou attitude. If the university authorities have exonerated her, then she should either let it go or just leave the school completely. Back up your words with real action. Ooooh, she's leaving a post but not the school. Real statement you made there.

it sounds to me like this woman is just trying to censor the artistic expression of others...I mean, if she is THAT offended by the pictures, what was she doing on the website where the photos were located? Sounds to me like she is repressed and jealous of others who are able to freely express themselves. Poor woman.

Whats the Web Site is what I wanna know...
OH, Porn IS legal.
They are consenting Adults.
And I do very well at my profession and *GASP* I like it kinky too.....
People are too concerned about OTHER people's personal lives and not paying enough attention to their own.

The problem here is that this professor is engaging in a sexual relationship with her students. This is the unethical part and she should be dismissed from her position. If the people in the photos with her were unrealted to her position at the university there wouldn't be a problem. Did these students receive preferential treatment? Were other students discriminated against because they didn't participate in these actions? How did she approach these students to be involved in this? These are questions that should be asked and answered.

Bev is correct. Sharon Warner and the other faculty memebers are NOT "taking a stand against porn" (or artistic expression or people who "like it kinky.") This is about unethical invovlvement with students. And nobody went looking for the photos on the web, by the way. They were sent, anonymously, to the Department.

I think she should only be fired if the other person in the photo was a student AT THE TIME THE PHOTO WAS TAKEN. If she was a student at the time then she was showing unfair intrest in that one student and it wouldnt be fair. If the professor and the other woman in the picture took them after the woman left her class then the school shouldnt have to right to fire her.

I agree with Bev. The ethicality of posing with your student is the problem. How can something be consensual when there is a grade involved?

So... what if the teach in question was a MALE teacher dominating a female student. He would be fired right?

These were staged photos, not an actual sexual relationship. There was an investigation, which found that there was no actual wrongdoing (coercion, preferential treatment, etc.). Also, one of the students introduced the prof to it, not the other way around.

If the student was of age to consent, whereas it's not child abuse or child pornography, then what's the problem? I understand wanting to be a good role model for your students, but just because your a prude and close-minded doesn't mean that the teacher in the pictures did anything wrong.

What happens between two consenting adult isn't anyone's business but their own. If you don't like it, stop surfing those websites.

Leave people alone. There is nothing worse than people who try to regulate other people's LEGAL behavior.
